Samuel L. Jackson to star in latest Taylor Sheridan show

It was probably inevitable. Taylor Sheridan is one of the most-prolific creators in television. There's "Yellowstone" and all its spinoffs, plus "Lioness" and "Landman." Also, "Tulsa King," the show that brought Sylvester Stallone to television. Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most-prolific actors since, what, the end of the Hollywood studio system? He's getting up there in years, but he was still in five movies last year, not to mention the limited series "Fight Night."

Finally, these two prolific individuals have come together, as Jackson is reportedly going to star in an upcoming "Tulsa King" spinoff.

Purportedly, the plan is to have Jackson's character pop up in the third season of "Tulsa King," which is currently filming. This would be a classic backdoor pilot situation leading to Jackson's show. The expectation is for this spinoff to take place in New Orleans as well. While Sheridan will be a creator and producer on this spinoff, Dave Erickson, who took over running "Tulsa King" for the third season, is expected to be the primary creative force on the spinoff as well.

This show will be, you know, a "Taylor Sheridan show," but clearly that is a world that works for a lot of people. There's a reason why Paramount+ basically lets the guy do what he wants, and what he wants now is a New Orleans-set "Tulsa King" spinoff. Jackson is Stallone-esque in that he is an older actor but a known name, and having him headlining a show will garner attention. Now, we've seen plenty of Jackson on TV, so there will be no novelty, but certainly nothing about Jackson starring in this show is a negative to us.
