Sandra Bullock credits Netflix for continuing her acting career: 'I would have been out in the cow pasture'

Sandra Bullock has starred in two of the biggest Netflix movies in recent memory, 2018's Bird Box and 2021's The Unforgivable, and she is very grateful to the streamer.

"They’re good to artists," Bullock, 57, told The Hollywood Reporter. "They’re good to filmmakers. If it wasn’t for Netflix, a lot of people wouldn’t be working. Their stories wouldn’t be told. Who would think that me, as a woman, would still be working at this point? I would have been out in the cow pasture. It’s true."

The Unforgivable marked Bullock's first role of any kind since Bird Box, so it isn't hyperbole to say that Netflix has monopolized the Oscar winner's career of late. Or maybe more accurately, Bullock has monopolized the streaming platform whenever she has chosen to act. In late December, it was revealed that The Unforgivable cracked Netflix's list of its top-10 most popular films of all time.

Variety provided the context at the time:

"The project joins her milestone 2018 film Birdbox in the all-time ranking, making her the first actress with two entries on the list. Netflix said The Unforgivable has been viewed 186,900,000 hours to date (a number that will likely increase as it approaches the 28 day mark, a key number in the company’s projections for viewership, which are not currently verified by outside parties). She is only matched by Ryan Reynolds, who counts Red Notice and 6 Underground in the Top 10."

Bullock's next film, however, will get a proper theatrical release this spring. Watch the trailer for The Lost City below.
