Scream 7 New Release Date Confirmed, 2 Actors Drop Out

The theatrical release date for Scream 7 has been confirmed.

The latest film in the long-running horror series, which started back in 1996, is set for a Winter 2026 release. The exact date Scream 7 releases is February 27, 2026.

That marks three years between Scream 7 and the last film, Scream 6, which released in 2023. It’s also the third Scream feature for Spyglass, so it’ll likely pick up the plot threads and have a similar feel as the last two.

That’s no bad thing seeing as Scream 6 grossed the franchise’s biggest opening ever at the US box office with $44.4 million. That means, combined, all of the Scream movies combined have generated more than $908 million at the global box office.

While most of the core cast is set to return in Scream 7 , the biggest new name is a no-show. Jenna Ortega couldn't commit to filming due to her role with ongoing Netflix drama Wednesday, according to reports. In addition, Melissa Barrera is not reprising her role after allegedly being let go for issues relating to the actress’s pro-Palestinian comments.
