Selena Gomez launches the Rare Impact Fund Giving Circle

In honor of her birthday, Selena Gomez is starting the Rare Impact Fund Giving Circle, which comes five years after she launched the Rare Impact Fund.

"5 years ago today – on my birthday – we launched the Rare Impact Fund with a simple goal: to help more young people around the world feel seen, supported, and cared for. Mental health has always been deeply personal to me, and I wanted to build something that could create lasting change. Since then, thanks to your support, we’ve reached over 2 million young people and supported 30 incredible organizations around the globe. And this is just the beginning," she wrote on Instagram

The actress and singer has been very open with her own mental health journey, inspiring fans and ensuring no one feels alone in their struggle. So what is the purpose of the Rare Impact Fund Giving Circle? It is a community-powered initiative "that invites people everywhere to take part in reshaping youth mental health around the world."

She continued to express, "It’s about believing in the power of community to create lasting change. Let’s build a future where every young person has the mental health support they deserve. Thank you for showing up, for each other, and for the next generation. This is what rare impact looks like."

"When we started the Rare Impact Fund, we wanted to build a community that could make a real difference," Gomez told PEOPLE in a statement. "Five years in, I'm so proud of the impact we've all made together and excited for The Giving Circle and other initiatives we are planning."

Since 2020, the Rare Impact Fund has made a difference for over 2 million young people yearly, raising more than $20 million and supporting 30 nonprofit partners across five continents.
