Selena Gomez wants her wedding to include 'Only Murders in the Building' co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short

While appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Selena Gomez opened up about working with Steve Martin and Martin Short on Only Murders in the Building. "It has changed my life in so many ways," the actress expressed. "Steve and Marty are such examples to me, and I'm just so grateful to work with them both."

Drew Barrymore also asked if her two co-stars will have a role in her and Benny Blanco's upcoming wedding. "I hadn’t even thought about that," she admitted. "But Marty is due to give a speech. I told him he must. Steve will probably pull out his banjo, but I feel like Marty would have an epic speech."

When their engagement was announced, Martin posted on Instagram, "Congratulations to Benny and Selena, from her two weird uncles."

Only Murders in the Building is currently filming its fifth season. The show recently won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, with Short winning Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2025 SAG Awards.

Sadly, both Short and Martin were absent. However, Martin wrote on Instagram, "I’m the buddy of a winner! Congratulations to Martin Short for his best comedy actor award, and thank you SAG for our comedy ensemble award!"

Short made a statement to PEOPLE after, saying, "The honor of being in Only Murders in the Building is the most spectacular compliment anyone could be given. The honor of being awarded by your peers is even greater. Thank you so so much."

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Gomez revealed that her fiancé did not call and ask them for her hand. "I have a feeling Marty wasn't very happy about that," she commented. "He just gave us a little bit of, you know, jokes here and there."

As for Martin, she shared, "Steve made sure he sent my assistant an email so my assistant could tell me congratulations. That's how he communicates."

I Said I Love You First is out now, and all episodes of Only Murders in the Building are streaming on Hulu.
