Showtime unveils official trailer for 'Ray Donovan: The Movie,' due 2022

Showtime abruptly canceled Ray Donovan after seven seasons in early 2020, much to the dismay of showrunner David Hollander.

"We’re still scratching our heads," Hollander told Vulture at the time. "We had no indicator that the show was ending. We were behaving creatively as though we were in mid-sentence. And so, there was no sense that this was going to be a completion. This was in no way a series finale."

Showtime righted that wrong by giving Ray Donovan a feature-length film to tie up loose ends, as reported in February of this year, and the official trailer arrived Monday (Nov. 22):

"Ray Donovan: The Movie picks up where season seven left off, with Mickey [Jon Voight] in the wind and Ray [Liev Schreiber] determined to find and stop him before he can cause any more carnage," the official description teases. "The film also weaves together the present-day fallout from the Donovan/Sullivan feud with Ray and Mickey's origin story from 30 years ago."

Directed by Hollander and co-written by Hollander and Schreiber, Ray Donovan: The Movie is slated to premiere on Showtime on Jan. 14, 2022.
