While promoting her new rom-com Picture This, which is now streaming on Prime Video, Simone Ashley answered some Bridgerton questions. The actress starred as Kate Sharma, now the Viscountess Bridgerton, in season 2. After reprising her role in season 3, it was announced that she will be coming back for season 4 alongside Jonathan Bailey, who plays her Viscount husband and the eldest Bridgerton son, Anthony.
The new season will follow Benedict's, played by Luke Thompson, search for love with Yerin Ha taking on the role of Sophie Baek. While speaking with Tudum, Thompson compared the star-crossed lovers’ story to a "bit of a twist on Cinderella," saying, "You remember being told those stories as a child — the magic and the romance of them. It’s really exciting to have that weaved into the world that we know of Bridgerton … It’s such a great story, but it’s also, I hope, really relatable."
The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down -- until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother's masquerade ball.
In a game of Ask Me Anything for ELLE UK, Ashley shared that she is most excited for fans to see Thompson and Ha together. "I'm so excited to see Yerin be introduced into the show and I'm so excited to see them take it in their stride," she expressed.
Ashley also revealed to Screenrant that she and Bailey have filmed "a couple of times" and added, "I'm excited for everyone to see the glimpse of Kate and Anthony's journey carrying on together."
Naturally, she isn't the only one who has been asked about the new season. Bailey has spoken about returning, explaining on Good Morning America, "I’m gonna be there to support the youngsters as we go," and sharing, "I’ll always pop back and say hello," on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
The fourth season is a total of 8 episodes and currently in production. Thompson and Ha have confirmed that the highly anticipated Masquerade Ball will be included.
