The “Sinners” cast joined co-star Mile Carlton for an unforgettable 2026 Oscars performance. Carlton brought to the Oscar stage the celebration, actually a club scene from the film “Sinners.” to perform the song “I Lied to You.” Carlton took the crowd on a trip through time, with help from country artist Shaboozy and former American Ballet Theatre dancer Misty Copeland.

A standout scene in the movie “Sinners” is when the vampire trio hears young Sammie singing in the juke joint. While Carlton is performing, the scene is changing, featuring music from different eras blending to represent how music can conjure spirits from the future and the past, and to serve as a veil between life and death.

Picture that scene now live on stage. Opening is Tony! Toni! Toné! Raphael Saadiq, before the camera, pans over to Carlton, joined by Li Jun, Lia Jyme Lawson in the background. Like the movie, as the song transitions, the costumes change, and other artists are introduced to show the music’s evolution and connections throughout time.

The performance features the sounds of delta blues, country, rock and roll, and hip-hop, and involves several cultural representations. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the artists who joined the “Sinners” cast onstage include,

“Grammy-winner Shaboozey, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Eric Gales, Buddy Guy (who plays an older Sammie Moore in Sinners), Alice Smith, Brittany Howard, Bobby Rush, and retired American Ballet Theatre dancer Misty Copeland.”

Rimmick, played by Jack O’Connell, and his party even made a cameo in the 2026 Oscar performance.
