You can make a fully-valid argument that "Space Ghost Coast to Coast" is as important and influential a comedy show as we have gotten in the last 40 years. The Cartoon Network show took an old, forgotten Hanna-Barbera superhero and repackaged him as a talk show host. Space Ghost would then "interview" celebrities, the celebs having been pre-recorded and then had their answers and comments edited into each "Space Ghost" episode as seen fit for absurdist, comedic purposes.
The absurd nature of the cult classic literally birthed Adult Swim, and thus is the forefather of every Adult Swim show, be it "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" or "Rick & Morty." In fact, the "so random!" style of comedy that has been prevalent on YouTube and social media over the last 15 years is indebted to "Space Ghost Coast to Coast." It is the Velvet Underground of comedy.
At the center of it all was George Lowe, the voice of Space Ghost on the Cartoon Network program. Beloved for the role, and synonymous with it, Lowe is forever Space Ghost. The voice actor has died at the age of 67.

The performance of Lowe as Space Ghost was pivotal to selling the humor of the show. His was the kind of work that showcases the "acting" part of "voice acting." Lowe made good jokes great and things that barely qualified as jokes pretty good. Where it was unearned self-aggrandizement, guileless enthusiasm, or out-of-nowhere rage, Lowe imbued Space Ghost with life.
Recently, Lowe was able to reprise the role of Space Ghost on "Jellystone," one of the many shows indebted to "Space Ghost Coast to Coast." You can hear in his voice a level of exertion, and perhaps even frailty, that makes this sort of news less surprising, if not any less significant. Even so, Lowe was Space Ghost once more.
RIP George Lowe

R.I.P. George Lowe. Maybe we can get "Space Ghost" back on (HBO) Max in his honor?
