Spider Man: Across the Spider-Verse ended with Gwen Stacy putting together a “band.” She got some old friends together to help her save Miles. Before the credits rolled, she asked us if we wanted in. Obviously, we did. Immediately! Alas, sequels don’t work like that. Especially not with films as complicated to make as the Spider-Verse movies. We have to wait for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. That isn’t easy, but knowing exactly how long it will be before the film debuts helps. And now, after being pulled off the schedule previously, we really do. Sony Pictures finally announced a release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The third Spider-Verse film will arrive in theaters on June 4, 2027. And to help us bide our time, Sony also released all-new images from the movie that are as gorgeous as you’d imagine.
These new looks at Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse show, among other things, that Miles’ fight with Prowler Miles will be as epic as the last movie teased.
A deadly serious Miles Morales is back. As is his evil multiverse Variant, Prowler Miles. Those two dominate these early images from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Gwen also makes an appearance, though, in a picture that is a true work of art. In it, we see Miles turned away from her high as they stand high above the city on an oil rig. Behind them are sails, the city’s skyline, and the sun setting.
No surprise these Beyond the Spider-Verse images look amazing. The blank and neon pink color scheme on Prowler Miles is truly incredible (which every fan of the Hart Foundation already knows). And if it looks this good in static images, we can’t even imagine how good this film will look when it’s finalized. There’s also so much action and emotion in all these images, it’s stunning.
Now we just have to wait to see it. And wait. And then wait some more. Until the summer of 2027. Oof, that’s so far away. But knowing when it will actually arrive is still better than not knowing.
As mentioned, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will release on June 4, 2027, and we can’t wait to swing into the action.

James Gunn’s Superman will feature plenty of other DC characters, from Metamorpho to Green Lantern Guy Gardner. But one somewhat obscure DC character is set to appear, and we even see him in the most recent trailer: Ultraman. No, not the Japanese superhero. DC Comics’ Ultraman is a villain. And although the version we see in the Superman trailer looks different, he does boast Ultraman’s “U” emblem on his chest. Recent toy images have confirmed that this character is indeed Ultraman. But can it be the same one from the comics? Actually, in the comics, there have been three different villains by that name. DC Comics’ First Ultraman, an Evil Superman from Earth-3 The first DC Comics Ultraman was a member of the Crime Syndicate of Earth-3, first appearing in 1964’s Justice League of America #29. This was early during the emergence of DC’s Multiverse, just a few years after DC introduced the concept of Earth-2 as the home of the World War II era Justice Society. Earth-3 was home to evil counterparts to the Justice League, led by a villainous Superman named Ultraman. This caped despot was the polar opposite of Superman, although he had all of Superman’s powers, but used them to commit criminal acts. All we knew about this Ultraman was that he came to Earth from a Krypton that didn’t explode, and unlike Superman, he gains more power from Kryptonite instead of it slowly killing him. Why there’s even Kryptonite when Krypton didn’t explode, we’re not sure. He worked with his cohorts, the Crime Syndicate, to invade Earth-1 with the help of Lex Luthor. Ultraman and the Syndicate continued to plague the heroes of Earth-1 for decades, before finding a conscience and stepping up as heroes when Earth-3 was under threat during Crisis on Infinite Earths. Ultraman died in the Crisis, as a hero, trying to save his world. The Second Ultraman, from the Anti-Matter Earth In the post-Crisis DC Universe, writer Grant Morrison reimagined Ultraman and the Crime Syndicate as citizens of the Anti-Matter Universe. Morrison and artist Frank Quitely introduced this Ultraman in the graphic novel JLA: Earth-2. There, everything is the opposite of the main DC Earth, or “Earth-0”. This Ultraman was a regular Earth human named Clark Kent, an astronaut who gained powers in space when encountering aliens who rewired his DNA using Kryptonite. They then returned him to Earth with Kryptonian-like powers and a desire to conquer the world. In 2013, DC introduced yet another Ultraman, this time from a new version of Earth-3. Ultraman from the Reimagined Earth-3 In the most recent DC Comics, Ultraman was once again the Kryptonian doppelgänger of Superman. Instead of Kal-El, son of Jor-El, he was Kal-Il, son of Jor-Il, sent by his father to conquer Earth, not save it. He forced the human Kents to provide him cover as their adopted son, Clark. But he was unrepentantly evil. By the age of 7, he killed his adoptive parents. Like previous iterations of Ultraman, he gained more power from Kryptonite exposure, and also led the Crime Syndicate. He seemingly died in battle with the son of Superman, Jonathan Kent. Is Ultraman from James Gunn’s Superman Really Bizarro? So will this Ultraman from James Gunn’s Superman be a Multiversal variant? We don’t know for sure, but we have a strong feeling he won’t be. If we were to guess, he’ll be a mix of two Superman doppelgängers: Ultraman and Bizarro. In the comics, Bizarro was a clone of Kal-El’s that came out wrong. His DNA degraded to the point where he became a simple-minded creature with pasty white skin. We think Ultraman will be a clone of Superman, wearing a mask to protect his true identity from Kal-El. He will be Luthor’s chief weapon against Superman. But we don’t think he’ll hail from the Multiverse. And we wouldn’t be shocked if before the movie ends, he becomes Bizarro. Especially as Bizarro is a major Superman villain who has yet to appear in a movie. If he appears, that would make for a cool final twist. Superman arrives in theaters on July 11.
The Green Bay Packers want to let training camp play out to see how their depth at cornerback is before making significant additions to the group. But after three days of practice, general manager Brian Gutekunst decided to sign another depth piece to create extra competition. On Saturday, beyond confirming the previously reported addition of running back Israel Abanikanda, the Packers also signed rookie cornerback Garnett Hollis Jr. He is a 6-0, 199-pound player. Undrafted, Hollis played three seasons at Northwestern before transferring to West Virginia before his final college season in 2024. Throughout his college career, the defensive back had 124 tackles (including five for loss), two interceptions, 12 passes defended, and one forced fumble. He spent some time with the Tennessee Titans after the draft. "I like our depth there," Gutekunst had told Cheesehead TV back in June. "I do think between Kalen King, Kamal Hadden, and Micah Robinson, there's going to be some really good competition for the back end into that roster. I'm excited to give those guys that opportunity to see." Bleacher Report's Cory Giddings projected Hollis as a fifth-round prospect, highlighting his aggressive and physical presence in the run game. "Garnett Hollis Jr. projects as a developmental prospect who will likely find his role as a physical outside cornerback in zone-heavy schemes. His size, length, and aggression make him an asset against bigger-bodied receivers and in run support, but his movement limitations and inconsistent tackling could cap his ceiling as a backup or rotational player. Hollis will need to refine his technique and improve his consistency to carve out a role at the next level." — Cory Giddings Competition on the roster In the first week of camp, the Packers have played with Keisean Nixon and Nate Hobbs outside, and safety Javon Bullard primarily in the slot. Carrington Valentine has also had significant time with the ones. The roster has Bo Melton, recently converted from wide receiver, Kamal Hadden, Kalen King, and Micah Robinson with more chances. The bottom of the depth chart has veteran Gregory Junior, Isaiah Dunn, and undrafted rookie Tyron Herring. Johnathan Baldwin is also officially listed as a cornerback, but he's practiced mostly at safety so far.
With the trade for Ryan McMahon now complete, it would seem New York Yankees’ general manager Brian Cashman has fulfilled one of his three priorities. He can now cross third base off the list, which leaves the rotation and bullpen as his remaining priorities. However, according to one Yankees writer, Cashman might not be done with the infield. Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reported this after the McMahon trade: “The Yankees may not be done adding to their infield. A team source said the Yankees are interested in adding a right-handed hitter who could play the infield.” Kirschner adds that the Yankees have had interest in Willi Castro and Amed Rosario. But the question now is, how would another player fit in the Yankees’ infield? Needless to say, Paul Goldschmidt and Jazz Chisholm Jr. aren’t going anywhere, and McMahon is just getting there. That leaves the low-hanging fruit. Anthony Volpe has been at the center of controversy all this season. His 13 errors, many of which had come at make-or-break moments, amount to the second-highest total in the game. In addition, his bat has not been able to compensate, hitting .214/.286/.407 with 14 home runs. There was always a lot to like about Volpe. He won a Gold Glove in his rookie year, his power has always been promising and his speed is nothing to scoff at. Unfortunately, his glove has become a liability and his speed has also produced very few results. Volpe has swiped just 10 bags in 17 attempts. His power is the one thing that still has some upside, but it hasn’t been enough to justify a spot in the lineup. Both Castro and Rosario have been far more productive at the plate this season than Volpe. Kirschner doesn’t clarify how serious the Yankees are in their pursuit of another infielder, but that most likely isn’t available information. Having just turned 24, Volpe could still become the type of player that was expected from him as a top prospect. However, his recent performance has weighed heavily on his team’s efforts and it may be buying him a ticket out of the Bronx — or at least a spot on the bench.
The Boston Bruins are gauging trade interest in forward Pavel Zacha, according to The Fourth Period. Following a down season and a trade deadline where Zacha’s name was thrown around but was ultimately not moved, Bruins GM Don Sweeney is trying to move the 27-year-old Czech center. Zacha is playing in the final season of a contract that has a $4.75 million cap hit. Zacha, acquired from the New Jersey Devils in 2022 for Erik Haula, has been a solid pickup for Boston. He posted 21 goals and 57 points in 78 games in 2023-24, though his production dipped slightly to 47 points over a full 82-game slate last season. He can play up and down the lineup and has a strong two-way game. Who Has Shown Interest in a Zacha Trade? Two teams reportedly monitoring Zacha are the Vancouver Canucks and the Utah Hockey Club. Both teams are seeking top-six forward depth and would value Zacha’s steady offensive contributions. The Canucks have been busy all summer, signing and trading players. They have also been linked to Jack Roslovic talks in free agency, meaning they wouldn’t be adding both. Utah has been looking to make a splash this season and work their way up the standings in an attempt to compete for the playoffs. The Bruins would likely demand a notable return, but neither team is looking to send players back. The trade would likely involve a high pick or a mid-tier prospect. Zacha controls part of the process with an eight-team no-trade list. He’s owed just $3.75 million in actual salary each of the next two seasons, further boosting his trade appeal.
