Steve Martin recalls meeting Elvis Presley, which involved three guns

Steve Martin has an epic Elvis Presley story, and he shared it while appearing on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday:

Martin recounted first meeting Presley in 1971 while he was serving as an opener for Ann-Margret Olsson.

"First, I see a beautiful woman walking toward me," the 76-year-old actor and comedian said. "And that's Priscilla. I didn't realize that. And then Priscilla sort of moves away, and there's Elvis, all in white. He looked great. He had the huge buckle. He looked at me, and he said, 'Son, you have an oblique sense of humor,' which was kind of accurate."

"He came in, and we start talking," Martin continued. "And I think, 'What do I talk to Elvis about?' Then he said, 'Wanna see my guns?' And I said, 'Yeah!' And he had three guns on him, and he was very safety-conscious. He brought out a derringer, and he held it up and he dropped the bullets in his hand before he gave me the gun so I could examine. Then he pulled out another gun, and he drops the bullets. Eventually, I'm holding three guns, and Elvis is holding 18 bullets."

Martin stopped by Stern alongside Martin Short. The two co-star, with Selena Gomez, in the new Hulu series Only Murders in the Building. Martin co-created the crime dramedy with John Hoffman.
