‘Superfakes’: Lucy Liu Stars in Peacock’s Crime Drama

Lucy Liu returns to the small screen as a small-time counterfeit dealer who enters the black-market underworld in an effort to fund her suburban life in a new series from Peacock. Liu will star in and executive produce the crime drama Superfakes from Emmy Award-winner Alice Ju, who also serves as showrunner.

Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie, the anxiety-thriller masterminds behind Uncut Gems and Good Time, are among the executive producers; A24 and Universal Studio Group’s UCP are producing the project.

The story follows a suburban housewife who funds her suburban lifestyle by selling counterfeit of high-end goods, but finds herself over her head when she dives into the black market. The series comes from creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer Alice Ju, whose previous credits include Poker Face and Beef. Executive producers include filmmaking duo Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie, alongside Howard Klein and Olivia Gerke for 3 Arts Entertainment. Additional executive producers include Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, and Lucy Liu. The series is produced by A24 and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
