It's official! The new 2025 Superman film is racing to home video faster than a speeding bullet. After grossing $579 million worldwide, the James Gunn-directed reboot of the Man of Steel will debut on small screens in the U.S. This comes on the heels of Jurassic World Rebirth hitting VOD on August 5, 2025. In terms of the summer blockbuster battle, Rebirth performed significantly better than Superman, Fantastic Four, and F1: The Movie, taking in a staggering $800 million worldwide, making the dino flick, by some metrics, the winner of the clash of the summer titans.
But with a Rotten Tomatoes score holding at 83 percent, Superman still has a lot of buzz and goodwill, which could result in huge returns as the movie becomes available to watch at home. Here's what to know about the Superman digital release date, and when to expect the movie on DVD, 4K, and Blu-ray.
In a press release sent by Warner Bros. on Tuesday, the studio revealed that Superman will be available for digital purchase starting on August 15 in North America.
This means on Friday, August 15, you'll be able to purchase Superman from Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Fandango at Home, and other vendors. This release comes just over a month after Superman hit theaters for early screenings on July 9.
The press release also confirmed that "4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD arrive on September 23."
According to Warner Bros.' press release, special features for Superman will be included in the digital purchase, just not at first.
"Additionally, coming soon to Digital will be additional special features including a gag reel, deleted scenes, and a director’s commentary featuring James Gunn," the statement reads. "These special features will be automatically added for consumers who have purchased the film on Digital."
So, if you buy Superman on digital this Friday, but you don't see any special features, just be patient. Eventually, that extra content will appear, as if it's been freed from the Phantom Zone.
