Work looks a lot more entertaining on television. These 20 workplace comedies are the best of all time.
1 of 20
'The Office'
Deedle-Dee Productions
The most iconic workplace comedy of all time, The Office has defined multiple subgenres of comedy. It remains the standard, and it’s hard to imagine anything coming along to knock it off its throne.
2 of 20
'Parks and Recreation'
NBC
If there’s a show that rivals The Office, it’s Parks and Recreation. The series originally started as an Office spin-off, but some reworking refined it into its final form, and it crafted a legacy as one of the greatest TV comedies of all time, workplace or otherwise.

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'
Fox/NBC
If Michael Shur is involved in a project, it’s going to be good. After lending his magic to The Office, Parks and Recreation, and more, he co-created Brooklyn Nine-Nine, another fantastic workplace comedy that perfectly blended comedy with a police procedural.

'30 Rock'
Broadway Video
30 Rock let us all imagine what it’s like to work at Saturday Night Live. But even people who don’t give a damn about SNL will find 30 Rock funny, because it’s so well done.
5 of 20
'Superstore'
NBC
Not every workplace is that exciting, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t beauty in the mundane. Superstore captured that, showing audiences that often the magic in a series lies in the characters, not the setting.
6 of 20
'Veep'
HBO Entertainment
Anyone who’s spent any amount of time in Washington, D.C. will attest to the accuracy of Veep. If you think about that too much, or at all, it’s terrifying, but if you separate the real world from Veep, it’s one of the funniest TV shows ever made.
7 of 20
'The Mary Tyler Moore Show'
MTM Enterprises
Good workplace comedies have been on TV for decades. The Mary Tyler Moore Show was ahead of its time in so many respects — highlighting a female at work was just one of them.
8 of 20
'Cheers'
Charles/Burrows/Charles Productions/NBC
Some places are a lot of fun to work at, and the TV shows made about them are proof. Bartender or not, everyone wants to work at Cheers after watching the hit comedy.
9 of 20
'2 Broke Girls'
Michael Patrick King Productions
Work wasn't necessarily the primary focus of 2 Broke Girls, but that doesn't make it any less of an incredible workplace comedy. It's one that deserves a little more love.
10 of 20
'Silicon Valley'
Judgmental Films/HBO
Despite having been off the air for several years, Silicon Valley is more relevant now than ever. This great workplace comedy needs a resurgence in popularity.
11 of 20
'Ted Lasso'
Apple TV+
Ted Lasso can be subcategorized in multiple ways. Looking at it as a workplace comedy might not be the most obvious lens, but it’s accurate and shows how much possibility there is in modern television.
12 of 20
'Scrubs'
Doozer Productions
Not everything that happens in a hospital has to be seen through a dramatic lens. Scrubs made hospitals fun … or, at least the happenings at one fictional hospital.
13 of 20
'It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia'
3 Arts Entertainment/FX/FXX
Cheers walked so It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia could run. And run it did. It's a far more unhinged version of Cheers, but still a great workplace comedy.
14 of 20
'Ugly Betty'
Ventanarosa Productions/ABC
Ugly Betty, along with multiple rom-coms of the time, had everyone in the mid-aughts wanting to work at a fashion magazine ... minus all the scheming and treachery, of course.
15 of 20
'Vice Principals'
Rough House Pictures/HBO
Danny McBride could make any work environment look appealing. We wouldn't be surprised if multiple school administrators were spawned after watching the hilarious HBO show.
16 of 20
'Reno 911!'
Comedy Partners
Another fantastic cop show, Reno 911! is far different from any other workplace comedy, but that's what makes it so special. It's cringeworthy and bizarre, yet hilarious. Anyone who watches simultaneously wants to work there and doesn't want to work there.
17 of 20
'Party Down'
Starz Inc.
The cast of Party Down doesn't get nearly enough credit. Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Jennifer Coolidge, and Megan Mullally, just to name a few, made this series so epic. It's underrated.
18 of 20
'Abbott Elementary'
ABC/20th Television/Warner Bros. Television
Plenty of TV shows have taken place at schools before, but Abbott Elementary is something special. It's heartwarming and funny and a good reminder of just how much teachers have to put up with every day.
19 of 20
'Taxi'
John Charles Walters Productions
There have been great workplace comedies on television for decades. Taxi is a great one for anyone interested in where the genre has been compared to where it is now.

Is anyone surprised that Glenn Howerton has starred in two separate incredible workplace comedies? If you are, you shouldn't be.
