The Avengers will have a Fantastic Leader in Doomsday and Secret Wars

After over half a decade, the Avengers are finally getting back together in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, since Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are both dead, one has to wonder who will take on the team’s leadership. It appears that the responsibility will fall on the elastic-powered leader of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic.

Mr. Fantastic Will Lead the Avengers

According to MovieWeb, The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman revealed in a Variety interview that Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal in the new movie, will take on the mighty task of leading the superhero team. As Shakman stated,

“He goes from being the nerdy scientist who’s locked away in the lab, to the husband and the father who’d do anything to protect his family, to the guy who’s leading the Avengers. I realized that the version we were building had to have all of those elements.”

The Fantastic Four: First Steps

The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens on July 25, and it will introduce Reed Richards and the rest of the Fantastic Four to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film will take place in an “alternate universe” 1960s, where flying cars and sentient robots exist. Reed and his wife, Sue Storm, also known as The Invisible Woman, will be expecting a baby as they fight to stop the planet-eating Galactus. It will be interesting to see how this film’s universe ends up meeting with the MCU’s main universe.

Who is the Villain in Avengers: Doomsday?

The villain will be the Fantastic Four’s longtime nemesis, Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. People have wondered if Doom will appear in First Steps as a teaser for the next Avengers film. Since Marvel is fond of their post-credit scenes, the First Steps post-credit scene seems like the ideal way to introduce Doctor Doom. Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026.
