‘The Bad Batch’ Season 3 Episode 15 Recap & Review: How Does Clone Force 99’s Story End?

Over the final season, Omega has fully embraced her training and become a brilliant tactician. She uses these skills wonderfully throughout The Bad Batch series finale, helping the force-sensitive children in captivity escape alongside her. After successfully scaling the facility’s vents independently, Omega returns to the children in the vault to help them hatch their escape.

While stormtroopers heavily guard the entire area, Omega comes up with the idea of freeing the Zillo Beast she found in captivity to create a distraction and allow them to flee to safety. Luckily, their distraction also paved the way for Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair to infiltrate the facility.

The firefight on Tantiss takes a great toll on Clone Force 99, and all three of the remaining members are badly injured in the process. Crosshair is still unable to stop his hand from shaking, and his inability to shoot leads to a trooper cutting off his hand. Despite making it near the base’s entrance, the team is captured by Dr. Royce Hemlock (Jimmi Simpson) and his men and placed in a torturous interrogation chamber.

Dr. Emerie Karr Joins Forces With Clone Force 99 in ‘The Bad Batch’ Season 3 Finale

In the previous episode of The Bad Batch, Dr. Emerie Karr (Keisha Castle-Hughes) finally sees the error in her ways and revolts against the Empire. In The Bad Batch series finale, she officially joins her fellow clones and teams up with Echo (Dee Bradley Baker) to rescue Omega and the other children. However, as Omega’s plan is already in action, the children are no longer in the vault.

Echo and Emerie finally catch up to Omega and the children after Echo clues into Omega’s plan to release the Zillo Beast — he knows this, of course, because he would’ve done the same thing. Omega and Echo send Emerie and the children off in a shuttle to safety so they can focus on recovering their fellow brothers in Clone Force 99 still in captivity.

They’re able to free the imprisoned clones as well as Nala Se (Gwendoline Yeo) and Rampart (Noshir Dalal) and rally almost all of them to their cause. The Clones aid Omega and Echo in their search for Hunter, Crosshair, and Wrecker, while Nala Se goes to the laboratory to destroy the cloning research. Unfortunately, as Omega, Echo, and the clones are off to rescue Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair, Rampart follows Nala Se to try to get his hands on the cloning data.

Clone Force 99 Finally Complete Their Mission in ‘The Bad Batch’ Series Finale

Rampart double-crosses Nala Se, pulling a gun on her to steal the research and give it back to the Emperor to gain his favor. However, Nala Se is hiding a thermal detonator and decides to blow up the entire laboratory, ending her own and Rampart’s lives in the process.

On the other side of the facility, Omega, Echo, and the clones catch up to Dr. Hemlock and their team, but they’re protected by the multiple shadow troopers created by Hemlock from clones. While these troopers have been seen throughout the series, this is a perfected batch, each with their own unique weapons and fighting styles. A battle ensues, and many clones fall on both sides, but Clone Force 99 remains intact.

Dr. Hemlock attempts to escape with Omega, using her as a hostage to evade Hunter and Crosshair’s blaster fire. However, Omega signals Hunter to ask Crosshair to shoot her handcuffs so she can break free. The brief moment is pivotal as it not only portrays Omega’s growth as a strategist but also brings the focus back to Crosshair, who has been unable to make the big shot since the beginning of the season.

Crosshair successfully hits the cuffs, as Omega is rescued and Dr. Hemlock falls to his doom. Admiral Tarkin (Stephen Stanton) arrives after the battle has concluded and suggests that all resources will be redirected to “Project Stardust” since Hemlock has perished. Of course, Project Stardust refers to the construction of the Death Star and is heavily referenced throughout many Star Wars properties, most notably Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

What’s Next For Omega and Clone Force 99?

Clone Force 99 reunites happily in the town square on Pabu, happy their mission has been completed. Time skips forward to older versions of Hunter and Omega; Hunter is still in “Dad” mode, trying to convince Omega not to do anything dangerous. While it’s not clear exactly when this occurs, Omega wants to leave to become a pilot for the rebellion, so it makes sense that it would take place around the same time as Star Wars: Rebels.

Whether Omega or Clone Force 99 will appear in future Star Wars projects remains unclear, but The Bad Batch series finale perfectly wraps up their individual stories. However, the destruction of Project Necromancer and the death of Dr. Royce Hemlock sever potential connections to the Sequel Trilogy that many fans expected. The finale supplants Season 3 as the best of the series, but fans still wonder how Emperor Palpatine will somehow return.
