The Conjuring universe is set to deliver its ninth film in its very profitable franchise. People really love very scary looking demons and dolls, indeed. These figures as well as real-life people like Ed and Lorraine Warren are horror staples, for better or worse. Speaking of the last two, the trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites brings the Warrens back for one more spine-chilling case. And yes, it is supposedly “based on real events.”
In the clip, we first see the Warrens’ very haunted basement as Ed gives a warning. Don’t touch anything, even if it looks like a toy. I’m not sure who’d want to play with Annabelle but it’s a fair warning.
We continue to see scenes from the film as Ed talks about their many cases and how anything can happen. Lorraine eerily tells Ed that something’s different and things amp up, even flooding a sink with blood in the vein of The Shining. Apparently, something so awful happens in this case that it becomes their last. The Conjuring: Last Rites trailer is a wild one ride that seems like it will drag up old foes and new.
The Conjuring: Last Rites will drum up scares when it hits theaters on September 5.
