'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier' premier sets Disney Plus streaming record

It would be silly to question the appetite for Marvel, but for those who do, keep reading.

Disney Plus announced Monday that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier became the streaming service's all-time top-viewed series premiere:

The six-part limited series starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan debuted March 19. From Friday through Sunday, it surpassed other Disney Plus hits such as WandaVision—which preceded The Falcon and The Winter Soldier as Marvel Studios' first live-action series—and The Mandalorian for the title of most successful opening weekend.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier picks up where Avengers: Endgame left off. The 2019 blockbuster ended with Captain America (Chris Evans) deciding to relinquish his powers and give his shield to Falcon (Mackie), otherwise known as Sam Wilson, while Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes (Stan) looks on.

In the first episode, Wilson donates the shield to the Captain America Museum Exhibit because he doesn't feel comfortable with anybody other than Steve Rogers wielding it. For a full episode recap, click here.
