Did The Hawk win?

Yes and no. Lonnie managed to win several key tournaments throughout the series and even made it to the U.S. Open, with hopes of completing the grand slam. He ended up in the playoffs alongside his long-time rival Golden Fisk (Luke Wilson) and his own son Lance Hawkins (Jimmy Tatro). Though Lonnie was able to dig himself out of the rough on the 18th hole, in the end, Lonnie lost by a single point to Lance after the latter managed to beat him at the most crucial element of the game: the mental game.

How did Lance trick Lonnie?

Lance convinced his mother, Stacy (Molly Shannon), and, by extension, Lonnie, that he was $4 million in debt to loan sharks that would murder him right there on the spot if he didn’t win the tour and cash prize to settle the debt. Upon seeing a pair of menacing faces in the crowd, Lonnie was thrown. Lance got further under his skin by using Lonnie’s childhood club in his final, successful putt. Lonnie ended up shanking it and lost the match, swearing he’d missed on purpose. It was then that Lance admitted he was lying about the mobsters, and, instead of being angry, Lonnie was proud of Lance for pulling one over on him.

What happened to Stacy and Lonnie?

Though she swore off golf in a moment of frustration, she ultimately returned to watch her estranged husband and son in their final playoff moment. Stacy, who’d hooked up with Lonnie in a moment of passion in a bathroom earlier in the season, then informed Radford (David Hornsby) that she would not be marrying him, as she was still in love with Lonnie.
