The new season of "Futurama" will drop soon, and all at once

"Futurama," and Hulu, are given in to the bingeing crowd. The much-traveled animated sitcom (which was great on FOX, pretty good on Comedy Central, and so far entirely fine on Hulu) will be returning for its 13th season. Well, asterisk on that number. The labeling of "Futurama" seasons is needlessly complicated and Comedy Central's fault. This time around, though, "Futurama" will fully abandon it's network roots and drop the entire season at once.

The prior two seasons of "Futurama" were released weekly on Hulu, perhaps assuming fans of the show wouldn't mind, or would even prefer it. After all, that was how they watched the show on FOX and Comedy Central. Not this time, though. All 10 episodes of season 13 will arrive at the same time, and that time is September 15.

"Futurama" remains a show about a guy, Philip J. Fry, frozen on the eve of the year 2000 and awakened on the eve of the year 3000. At this point, though, Fry is well-ensconced in the future, and "Futurama" has been more of a workplace comedy/hangout show. Owing to the sci-fi nature, the show can go to different planets with different rules and mine that for one-off sources of humor. "Futurama" is kind of like "Star Trek," but comedic, in that sense.

It's impressive "Futurama" has managed to stick around, surviving and getting by like a New York cockroach of the future. You'll have the chance to watch all of season 13 when it drops on Hulu on September 15. Or, watch them weekly like you have in the past. Now, it's your choice.
