The revival of "King of the Hill" has a release date and...they are all aged up!

Okay, we'll cop to not being fully engaged with this "King of the Hill" reboot. The show last aired in 2009, and the reboot on Hulu first was announced in January of 2023. It's been a bit since we heard that news, and we have gotten plenty of reboots at this point, including in animation. Yeah, "King of the Hill" was a good show, but it's been a minute, and we got 13 seasons in its original run.

However, we're now intrigued. We knew the show was going to have differences when it returned. R.I.P. to Brittany Murphy, the voice of Luanne, and the voice of the iconic Dale Gribble, Johnny Hardwick, died in 2023. Apparently he did get to do some voice work for a couple episodes prior to that, though.

Then, alongside the announcement of when the 14th season of "King of the Hill" we saw that first-look photo and we did a double take. Animated shows rarely age up characters. However, "King of the Hill" has decided that for the reboot the character have been aged up. Bobby Hill is a grown man! You can see a bit of that, and more, in the new opening credits.

Not everything has changed, as fortunately the awesome theme song is still there. The description for the reboot is as follows:

After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their  retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.

Definitely seems worth checking out now! And we will be able to check it out later this summer. All 10 episodes of the revival of "King of the Hill" hit Hulu on August 4. We're definitely glad they have changed the logistics of the world of Arlen enough to legitimately justify this reboot, but we are kind of hoping to hear Hank say of Bobby, "That man ain't right."
