'The Running Man' trailer: Glen Powell fights assassins to win big

For some reason, a lot of stories about a near or alternate future/reality/apocalypse setting involves watching people fight for their lives for entertainment. We got that in The Hunger Games, Twisted Metal, and The Long Walk, to name a few. Now, we are getting a similar vibe in The Running Man, an action film starring Glen Powell as a man against a band of assassins with a wild new trailer.

In this society, The Running Man is a top rated show where contestants, known as Runners, must survive for 30 days while assassins hunt them down. And people watch this fight for survival for sport. Why would anyone do this? For money, of course.

That’s why Powell’s character Ben Richards gets into the game. He wants to save his sick daughter and quickly becomes a fan favorite, to the dismay of the show’s overlords. The dangers have to increase in an effort to take him down because they certainly don’t want him to win big. It’s all very bleak, but I am willing to watch any show where Colman Domingo plays the host.
