The top 25 men competitors in 'The Challenge' history

What makes The Challenge one of, if not the best, reality competitions is that it truly takes a well-rounded individual to win it all. Brute strength will only take you so far, just as being the smartest in the room can only do so much. When ranking the Top 25 men competitors to grace this MTV series, there's no one way of determining who should be included.

When comprising this list, many factors were considered. How well a player performs in eliminations is a significant component as it shows how difficult it is to eliminate that person. Of course, how many times they won the entire show is also a major requirement to enter the elite category. That being said, here are the 25 best men competitors who have stepped into The Challenge ring.

1 of 25

25. Horacio Gutierrez

Horacio Gutierrez
MTV Entertainment

Premature, maybe, but Horacio proved his worth to be on this list after just one season. On Ride or Dies, no one was more dominant than him. He made the finals and was only sent home during the final because his partner suffered a gruesome injury. He was 5-0 in eliminations. He has a chance to climb this list.

24. Kyle Christie

Kyle Christie
MTV Entertainment

He may never get that sought-after win, but there's no denying his heart. He's frequently put in eliminations but always delivers at least once. He has seven wins when being sent down. He's appeared in three finals, including two of his last three runs.

23. Faysal Shafaat

Faysal Shafaat
MTV Entertainment

There may not be a more imposing physical force whenever he's on a season. He lacks that season win, but he's reached the final in two of four seasons and has 12 daily wins. Where he excels is in elimination, boasting a ridiculous 5-1 record. His social game is improving, but he still finds himself scrambling at times. His one exit was a result of an ejection.

22. Zach Nichols

Zach Nichols
MTV Entertainment

He picked up a win in his first season, Battle of the Seasons, but hasn't been able to follow that up. Altogether, he's reached four finals with 39 daily wins in 10 seasons. His physical makeup always makes him a target in his seasons, as no one wants to run a final with him, which speaks to his impact on the show.

21. Cory Wharton

Cory Wharton
MTV Entertainment

Cory is still chasing that elusive championship. He has four final appearances across 10 seasons. He always is a tough out with an 8-5 record in eliminations. He's been absent the past few seasons, but if he can return and claim that coveted title, he can rise on this list.

20. Leroy Garrett

Leroy Garrett
MTV Entertainment

He remains on the hunt for his first season win, but his resume is still impressive despite that void. He's reached five finals and touts an impressive 9-5 record in eliminations. Before announcing his retirement from the show, he had reached three finals over his last four seasons.

19. Hunter Barfield

Hunter Barfield
MTV Entertainment

A short track record, but he remains a highly discussed player. That's because, in his one win in Final Reckoning, he actually didn't take home any money, as Ashley Mitchell claimed the entire pot. He also has another final appearance and 12 daily wins in those four seasons. He's 4-2 in eliminations.

8 of 25

18. Theo Campbell

Theo Campbell
Jonne Roriz / Paramount +

He was dominant in War of the Worlds as he impressively won his first-ever season. The only thing holding him back is a lack of appearances, with just three to his name. That said, he's 4-1 in eliminations and has seven daily wins.

9 of 25

17. Nehemiah Clark

Nehemiah Clark
MTV Entertainment

Appearing on nine seasons, Nehemiah has one victory to his credit and a pair of final appearances in two of his three All Star seasons. He also has picked nine daily wins. He came out on top in The Gauntlet III as a rookie.

10 of 25

16. Brad Fiorenza

Brad Fiorenza
Paramount +

A physical threat, Brad finally picked up his win in Cutthroat after three final appearances before that. More recently, he reached the finals in All Stars 3 and won six daily challenges over two All Star appearances and two elimination wins.

11 of 25

15. Alton Williams

Alton Williams
Paramount+/MTV

Selective in his appearances, Alton always shows up when he's there. He has four final appearances in five seasons, with a win coming in The Gauntlet 2. He appeared in All Stars 1, where he fell just short but did pick up an elimination win to move to 6-1 all-time. He also has 23 daily wins.

12 of 25

14. Yes Duffy

Yes Duffy
MTV Entertainment

Yes has a unique resume. He has just five seasons but has won two of those with 13 daily wins and more than $500,000 to his name. Where he lacks is his eliminations, where he has never won. There is something to be said about avoiding being sent down, which speaks to his strong social game.

13 of 25

13. Abram Boise

Abram Boise
IMDb/MTV

First appearing in 2003's The Gauntlet, Abram would appear in four finals over nine appearances with two wins to his name. He racked up 49 daily wins and won over $100,000 in his two victories.

14 of 25

12. Evan Starkman

Evan Starkman
MTV

After his first two seasons, Evan went to three straight finals with two wins in The Duel II and The Ruins. He had a short run but one that saw him go 4-2 in eliminations with 32 daily wins across six seasons.

15 of 25

11. Devin Walker

Devin Walker
MTV Entertainment

He's often overlooked because he isn't an imposing figure, but his wit, social game, and determination make him just as dangerous. In seven appearances, he has reached the final three times. He earned his stake on this list with an impressive victory in Ride or Dies alongside Tori Deal. He touts an impressive 6-2 record in eliminations.

16 of 25

10. Landon Lueck

Landon Lueck
MTV Entertainment

Good luck getting this guy out during his playing days. He has a 5-1 elimination record. He'll likely win if you let him make the finals. He has three wins and 24 daily wins in four seasons. The only knock on him is his longevity, but had he kept at it, there's no telling how dominant he could have been.

17 of 25

9. Kenny Santucci

Kenny Santucci
MTV

Another player who just always dominated, Kenny reached the finals in seven of his eight seasons. He won three of those while going 5-2 in eliminations with 36 daily wins. Few players had a resume like his between 2006-11.

18 of 25

8. Derrick Kosinski

Derrick Kosinski
MTV Entertainment

Derrick has a ton of experience under his belt and 47 daily wins across 13 seasons. He has appeared in six finals and has come out victorious in three of those, including a stretch of three straight in which he appeared on The Inferno 3, The Island, and The Ruins.

7. Mark Long

Mark Long
MTV Entertainment

Eight seasons and six finals are impressive. So, too, are his pair of wins in Real World vs. Road Rules and Battles of the Sexes. His last Challenge win came two decades ago, however, but he has appeared in the finals of both of his All Star seasons, including in 2022.

6. Mike "The Miz" Mizanin

Mike "The Miz" Mizanin
Xavier Collin/Image Press Agency/Sipa USA

What could have been? He has just five seasons under his belt, but four of those saw him reach the final, and in two, he came out on top. He collected $130,500 in his victories. He finishes with a 2-0 elimination record and 29 daily wins. He could have reached Johnny Bananas' level had he remained active.

21 of 25

5. Jordan Wisely

Jordan Wisely
Paramount +

He may let his emotions get the best of him sometimes, but Jordan has proved himself as one of the best to ever do it. He has five final appearances with three wins, and he’s fresh off a final appearance in Ride or Dies. He’s as hard as anyone to get out of the game, as he’s 11-5 in eliminations.

22 of 25

4. Wes Bergmann

Wes Bergmann
MTV Entertainment

There may not be a more well-rounded player as dominant as Wes. He has the most elimination wins with three wins, including the most recent in All Stars 3. What makes him stand out among his peers is his approach to the political side of the game, where more times than not, he's able to extend his life in the game through his deals and scheming.

23 of 25

3. Darrell Taylor

Darrell Taylor
Paramount +

There may never be a more dominant run than Darrell had when winning four straight seasons in The Gauntlet, The Inferno, The Inferno II, and Fresh Meat. He added a fifth win in Champs vs. Pros in 2017 and has two final appearances in his three All Star seasons. He's not the same player he was, but there's no denying his success.

24 of 25

2. Johnny Bananas

Johnny Bananas
Jonne Roriz / Paramount +

The face of the franchise. His resume speaks for itself. He has more than $1.2 million in winnings, with eight wins in 11 final appearances. He's been an imposing force ever since appearing in his first season in 2007 and remains just as viable in 2023.
