Julien’s is currently hosting one of its most exciting, nerdiest auctions ever. The Jim Henson Company is celebrating its 70th anniversary by doing something it has never done before: letting the public bid on some of amazing pieces. The massive collection, which includes hundred of items, features puppets, props, memorabilia, posters, books, and more from classic Henson Company shows and movies. That includes items from multiple The Muppets projects, Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, The Hoobs, Labyrinth, and others. Fans can even bid on personal possessions owned by Jim Henson himself.
We wish we could afford to win every piece in this collection when the auction runs on November 25. Sadly, we cannot. But since dreaming is still free, these are the five items from The Jim Henson Company 70th Anniversary Auction we most wish we could take home.
Expected Final Sale Price: $30,000 – $50,000
Fraggle Rock will always be a special show to the generation that grew up with it. But while there are many puppets up for bid from the species that gave the show its name, we want this adorable little Doozer the most. The Doozers were always the best.
Expected Final Sale Price: $7,000 – $9,000
Every Muppet fan on the planet would love to own an article of clothing style icon Miss Piggy actually wore on screen. And that’s exactly what one will get to do when they win her shoes from the “Couldn’t We Ride” bicycle scene in The Great Muppet Caper.
Expected Final Sale Price: $500 – $700
This incredible lot is full of super nerdy items, and this is easily the dorkiest one we most covet. It’s a foam and paper stack of eviction notices that Michael Caine’s Scrooge hands to Kermit’s Bob Cratchit before he hands them to the office’s rat book-keepers. We want someone to now hand them to us.
Expected Final Sale Price: $800 – $1,200
The late, iconic Caroll Spinney played both Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird from 1969 until 2018. Having anything connected to either him or those two Sesame Street figures would be special. Owning his own 2014 original watercolor of both? Magic.
Expected Final Sale Price: $800 – $1,200
We’ll be #AngryForever that Netflix didn’t bring The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance back for another eight (at least) seasons. But if we juuust had enough money we could buy every available prop and puppet from the show up for sale and make our own version at home. The center piece of that would, of course, be the full-sized Crustal of Truth used during production. Look at the purple beauty.
Please, someone…..anyone….buy this for us. It’s the item we want most from Julian’s Jim Henson Company Auction. Then go ahead and buy everything else for us, too.
