'The Voice' makes history with Season 21 winner

Consider this sentence your one and only spoiler warning.

Season 21 of The Voice  drew to a close Tuesday night (Dec. 14) on NBC, and Kelly Clarkson collected her fourth crown since joining the singing competition series as a coach for Season 14 in early 2018 when her team's band Girl Named Tom was named champion:

That's not the historical part, though. Girl Named Tom is the first non-solo act to win The Voice since it premiered in April 2011.

The group, comprised of siblings Bekah, Caleb and Joshua Liechty, did not take the honor lightly—posting a letter to fans that included a heartbreaking update on their father's battle with terminal cancer:

Girl Named Tom previously dedicated a performance of Glen Campbell's "Wichita Lineman" to their dad during "The Knockouts."

Behind Girl Named Tom, Wendy Moten (Team Blake) was named runner-up. Paris Winningham (Team Blake) claimed third place, while Hailey Mia (Team Kelly) and Jershika Maple (Team Legend) finished in fourth and fifth, respectively. Ariana Grande was the only coach without a finalist on her team.

Watch Girl Named Tom discuss their unprecedented victory below.
