Hugh Laurie is back in the house … at least, he will be back in your house when his Apple TV thriller hits the streamer.
The House star is taking on a new TV role in The Wanted Man, a new drama from the creator of Lupin and Hijack. And he’s joined by a bevy of Hollywood all-stars in the cast.
Here’s everything to know about The Wanted Man so far.
Hugh Laurie will star as the lead character, Felix Carmichael. He’s joined in the cast by Thandiwe Newton, Fionn Whitehead, Gina McKee, Hazel Doupe, Elliott Heffernan, and Stephen Dillane. George Kay serves as creator, writer, and showrunner for the series, which is coproduced by New Pictures and Kay’s Observatory Pictures. It is executive-produced by Willow Grylls and Matt Sandford, and it is directed by Jacob Verbruggen.
The eight-episode thriller’s description from Apple TV tells us, “The Wanted Man charts the rise and fall of Felix Carmichael, the elusive and powerful head of notorious British crime syndicate, the Capital. Untouchable for 20 years, Carmichael is finally apprehended, but while he’s held in the infamous Staplehurts prison, it becomes clear that he’s been betrayed by one of his own. As the traitor moves to dismantle the empire he has built, Carmichael must risk everything in a daring escape. Willing to stop at nothing to take his revenge, if he succeeds, he’ll be a wanted man once more.”
The series was first announced by Apple TV in May 2025 and was filmed from May through December of that year, but a premiere date has not yet been revealed. Perhaps interestingly, the series reportedly filmed in HMS Prison Reading, which was the jail where Oscar Wilde was imprisoned back in 1895, along with other London locations.
The Wanted Man, Premiere Date TBA, Apple TV
