Dylan Dreyer is opening up about the ups and downs of her life as a working mom.

The Today meteorologist was recently named as one of the 2026 Parents Next Gen Awards honorees, which celebrates individuals who made a difference for families, parents, and kids over the past year.

The honor came as a surprise to Dreyer, as she said she’s used to telling “other people’s stories” on Today. In recent months, Dreyer has been open on the NBC morning show about raising her three sons — Calvin, Oliver, and Rusty — amid her divorce from her estranged husband, Brian Fichera. Back in April, she launched her first-ever podcast, titled The Parent Chat, on which she and guests get candid about their own parenting experiences.

“I’m a busy working mom. I hit my breaking points sometimes at the end of the day, and I’m just trying to make the best life for the kids,” she told Parents in an interview published on Wednesday, June 24. “To think people can relate to what I’m going through and find me inspirational is really wild.”

She continued, “As parents, we all feel those struggles but also feel the joys. I don’t know if I’m doing anything right as a parent, but I like to think I am. My kids are super happy, they seem grounded, and our house is full of so much love. So I’m honored that anyone thinks, ‘Well, the way she does things is inspirational!'”

Despite breaking down the idea of being the perfect parent, Dreyer confessed that she still struggles with mom guilt. “I’m very fortunate that I have a job that I love. So if I’m working or if I am traveling for work, I do really enjoy it. But guilt comes with the territory whenever you’re not the one to be there for your kids 100 percent,” she said. “Realistically, I can’t be there for everything. But I make sure someone they know and love is there for them.”

Dreyer also opened up about how she and her fellow Today hosts, such as Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Carson Daly, Sheinelle Jones, and Jenna Bush Hager, bond over raising young kids. “We can all commiserate and relate to each other. It’s like, ‘Oh, mine’s going through this, or are you doing camp this year, or what kind of sports do you like?’ I can’t stand that sports go all year now. What happened when we were little, and sports were just one season?” she stated.

Dreyer noted that the hosts also rely on Al Roker for parenting advice, as he shares three grown kids with his wife, Deborah Roberts, and his late ex-wife, Alice Bell. “Al certainly has the experience and the knowledge because he’s removed from that little kid age that so many of us are in right now,” she told the outlet.

She also revealed that it was Roker who convinced her to buy a minivan when she moved from New York City to the suburbs. “I just bought a minivan a few months ago because Al said, ‘You have to get a minivan, it will change your life.’ I was like, ‘Really? But I don’t want a minivan,'” she recalled. “Literally the next day, I bought one, and now it’s all I talk about. I am obsessed! Yesterday, each of the boys brought a friend along, and we all fit so easily.”
