Tom Hardy is not returning to the Mad Max universe any time soon.
The actor, who starred in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, recently addressed the possibility of reprising his role for a rumored prequel called The Wasteland.
“I don’t think that’s happening,” Hardy told Forbes in an interview about his latest film, The Bikeriders.
Hardy’s direct answer may have something to do with a well-publicized drama on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road, which made headlines last month.
According to reports, Hardy had differences with his co-star, Charlize Theron, with director George Miller telling The Telegraph, “They were just two very different performers.”
“Tom has a damage to him but also a brilliance that comes with it, and whatever was going on with him at the time, he had to be coaxed out of his trailer. Whereas Charlize was incredibly disciplined.”
Speaking of discipline, here’s the Chris Hemsworth diet revealed: how the actor got shredded for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
The Wasteland is not confirmed, however. With Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga falling below box office expectations, it might be the last installment in the Mad Max universe.
