Tom Hopper and Luke Hemsworth play Raife Hastings and Jules Landry in Prime Video's The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. The first three episodes will begin streaming on Wednesday, August 27, with new episodes dropping weekly.
Co-created by The New York Times bestselling author of The Terminal List, Jack Carr, and Season One creator-showrunner David DiGilio, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is a prequel series with an origin story that follows “Ben Edwards” throughout his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations. The series is an espionage thriller that explores the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.
The duo spoke to Yardbarker about why prequels continue to fascinate audiences despite knowing how the story will end and the background information they came up with for their characters:
"I know what happens to my character, and if you read the books, you know as well, and so, why do you want to do it if that's where it ends up? Well, the answer is you get to discover all the good stuff along the way, right? We go through this journey with these guys. We learn with them, we love with them, and we laugh and hunt," Hemsworth expressed. "It's not enough to just have, this is the end, and that's it. We actually want to get into the nitty-gritty, I think, and especially as actors, you want to pull all that stuff apart. It's always the why question, is what drives us, right? If you're not asking why, then you're missing something."
"I think it's that thing of like, well, you said it, it's the how did they get there? If you watch one part of a story and something significant happens to that character or they did something significant, and you question it, whether it's from a moral standpoint or whatever, I think there's a part of you that's always like, 'How did they get there,'" Hopper explained. "Ben's such a great character to do that with because the part he is in The Terminal List, you think, 'Why would he do that? Why would he get to that point?' And to go back and go, 'Okay, well, we'll tell you how he got there and how that got into his head and whatever happened,' I think it's, yeah, that's why it's an exciting thing to go into."
