A new image has been flung violently out of the marketing cyclone for Twisters.
In it, we see Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones) standing with her arms crossed. Behind her is Tyler Owens (Glen Powell). The pair play tornado-chasers, so this is a rare image where they’re actually standing still.
They appear to be in an airfield, with what looks to be the yellow wing of a plane poking into shot on the right. Could Twisters feature an airborne set-piece involving planes getting sucked up into a violent storm? It certainly sounds like something the blockbuster sequel to one of the best disaster movies of the ‘90s would deliver.
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, Twisters is a follow-up to 1996’s Twister. It featured Bill Paxton, Helen Hunt, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Cary Elwes on the hunt for twisters in order to research them.
In Twisters, a new team of storm chasers enter the fray. As a system of multiple storms converge on them in central Oklahoma, however, they find themselves in the fight of their lives.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Edgar-Jones says Twisters features “loads of nods to the original”, adding it "really feels like a new chapter in a really brilliant way. There's new technology, there's new ways to understand these crazy weather systems and tornadoes — so we're bringing it up to date with what the state of the world is now."
