Venom: The Last Dance isn’t a hit with critics. The last movie in Tom Hardy’s Venom trilogy is currently one of the lowest-scoring superhero films of the year.
Right now, Venom: The Last Dance has just 38% on Rotten Tomatoes after 68 reviews, with critics calling it “surprisingly lifeless,” “asinine,” and “exhausting.”
It’s still too early for an audience score, with the film releasing 25 October 2024, but it doesn’t bode well. For context, here’s how the other comic book movies that released this year scored. With 38%, it’s worse than Hellboy: The Crooked Man, and only marginally better than Joker: Folie à Deux.
Bad reviews don’t necessarily translate to a bad box office, however. Venom: The Last Dance is predicted to earn $65 million domestically and $100 million overseas during its opening weekend, which would go some way to recouping its reported $120 million budget.
Still, that would make it the lowest-earner of Sony’s Venom movies. The first Venom opened to $80 million in 2018, while the second, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, opened to $90 million in 2021.
Deadpool & Wolverine - 78%
Hellboy: The Crooked Man - 41%
Venom: The Last Dance’ - 38%
Joker: Folie à Deux - 32%
