Watch: 'Pose' shares first trailer for its third and final season

Based on the first official trailer shared Tuesday, Pose is setting out to put fans straight into their feels with the third and final season debuting May 2 on FX:

In the nearly two-minute teaser (soundtracked by Aretha Franklin's "A Deeper Love") Bianca Rodriguez (Mj Rodriguez) is hard at work at a New York City hospital and making it clear to her group of friends that what she's doing is not just about her legacy but the trans community's legacy.

As the AIDS epidemic continues to zero in closer and closer to home, Pray Tell (Billy Porter) emotionally laments, "The balls ain't what they used to be. Cash prizes and tacky lip-syncs. There used to be this sense of urgency and community, and then folks just started dying."

But Bianca refuses to let the disease win: "I'm done running—from myself, my destiny. I'm not running no more. Who's with me?"
The series was created by Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story), Brad Falchuk (Glee, American Horror Story) and Steven Canals, and the pilot aired June 3, 2018.

FX officially describes Pose as "a drama spotlighting the legends, icons and ferocious house mothers of New York’s underground ball culture, a movement that first gained notice in the late 1980s. Making television history, Pose features the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles, including Mj Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore and Hailie Sahar, who co-star alongside Tony Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Billy Porter, Angel Bismark Curiel, Dyllón Burnside, Sandra Bernhard and Jason Rodriguez. The Golden Globe-nominated drama also features the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors ever for a scripted series."

Pose's groundbreaking cast has spearheaded crucial representation for the transgender community. Three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade has credited the series with helping him relate to his 13-year-old daughter, Zaya, and the trans experience:

FX's site also clarifies that Season 3's setting will be 1994. You can catch up on the timeline by watching all 18 Pose episodes on Netflix.
