Watch: 'Superman' cast and crew crack themselves up in blooper reel
David Corenswet laughs on the set of Superman. DC Studios

There are blooper reels from movies, and then there are blooper reels from James Gunn movies. It’s clear from the blooper reels from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies that Gunn can bring out the goofy. And not only in his cast and crew, but also himself. And judging from the just-released blooper reel from Superman,  he’s brought the same energy to the set of that film. We, of course, expected folks like Nathan Fillion and Gunn himself to be goofballs on set. But it was fun to see that David Corenswet was just as dorky. You can watch the full Superman blooper reel video right here:

Our favorite part of this whole blooper reel is easily the fact that James Gunn himself played the part of Lex Luthor’s screeching shitposting social media monkeys. Gunn is someone who has been the target of online hate campaigns from obsessed people in certain fandoms. And we’re sure getting to play the monkeys was incredibly cathartic for him. It was also fun to see the cast do their best “old school Star Trek falling all over themselves on the bridge” inside of Mister Terrific’s ship. And Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, making faces, really makes him look like a Kevin Maguire drawing from Justice League International.

It was also fun to see Alan Tudyk in his mo-cap suit, whose deadpan delivery as the Fortress of Solitude robot “4,” a.k.a. Gary, broke David Corenswet. And there was also dancing. A lot of dancing. Superman was a big success for the fledgling DC Studios. And the final episodes of Peacemaker season two are also said to tie into Superman. And they’ll also lead into some elements of Man of TomorrowJames Gunn’s Superman is now available for streaming on HBO Max and on Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray.
