Watch this 'Cheers' compilation of every Norm entrance George Wendt made
George Wendt as Norm Peterson on Cheers. NBC/Universal

We sadly lost actor George Wendt at the age of 76 this week. Wendt famously portrayed Norman Peterson, better known as just “Norm,” on the iconic ’80s/’90s sitcom Cheers. He passed away on May 20, which was the 32nd anniversary of Cheers’ final episode airing. One of Cheers’ most iconic repeating gags was that every time Norm walked into the bar for a beer, everyone yelled “Norm!” in unison, greeting Cheers’ most loyal customer. Now, via Laughing Squid, we learned Peacock has made an 18-minute compilation of every “Norm!” entrance from across Cheers’ eleven seasons on NBC.

The compilation covers every Norm entrance from all 275 Cheers episodes George Wendt appeared in. Norm had a different quip whenever he entered, making him one of the most beloved characters on the show. Wendt received nominations for six Emmy Awards for playing Norm Peterson throughout the series. Despite appearing in several other movies and television shows, not to mention Broadway, his most famous role is always as Norm, who always had an open tab at the bar. Fun fact; Norm became so iconic, that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine named the alien who was always at Quark’s bar “Morn” in tribute to Norm.

Cheers is one of those sitcoms from the ’90s that somehow avoided a revival in the streaming era. This despite its spin-off series Frasier receiving one. Although network executives floated the idea now and then, none of the original series actors were down to do it. With Kirstie Alley also now passed away, it would feel even more wrong to attempt a Cheers revival. It seems some things are just better left in their original era. How can you even have Cheers without Norm? It would be wrong.
