'Wednesday' director Tim Burton comments "working with an artist is inspirational" while speaking about Lady Gaga's season 2 role

Wednesday director and executive producer Tim Burton is opening up about his experience working with Lady Gaga, who will guest star as Rosaline Rotwood, described as "a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday."

Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.

"She's such an artist and so for me, working with an artist is inspirational," he told Variety. "But I felt that way about Joanna and Steve, who I’ve worked with before. These people come on this set, you see the whole crew kind of light up. It’s a beautiful thing to witness."

The season 2 cast includes Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Steve Buscemi, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Isaac Ordonez, Joy Sunday, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah B. Taylor, and Hunter Doohan.

Jamie McShane, Joanna Lumley, Joonas Suotamo, Fred Armisen, Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton, Heather Matarazzo, and Frances O'Connor also guest star.

Burton continued to preview that the sophomore season will focus more on the Addams family relationships. "You have Wednesday and her mother and then Morticia and her mother," he explained. "So I feel that delves a bit deeper into this weird family. Everybody says they have a family that’s weird but I’m like, name me one normal family. There’s not one I’ve ever met in my whole life."

Part 1 will include the first four episodes and premiere August 6 on Netflix. Part 2 will then follow with the last four episodes on September 3.
