Hello everyone, welcome to another article, written by yours truly! Today we will be reviewing the newest Demon Slayer movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle! This article will have a ton of spoilers, just a warning for whoever’s reading this.
Before we get started, y’all should know that this movie is the first movie out of three, so the infinity castle arc will be here for awhile. It also means that the first movie kind of ends on a cliffhanger, just because there is a guarantee of more content. Now, let’s get started!
There are plenty of articles and other points of view and news for this movie (read them here). But, for me, this movie was so good! It has a lot of information if you’ve never watched anything related to Demon Slayer, but if you have, there really isn’t too much information. It definitely builds on the last episode of the hashira training arc.
The plot is amazing, the animation is amazing, it definitely shows that if you don’t want to wait until 2027 for the second movie, you might want to read the manga. The reason why I keep saying the same dates is because the release dates for the next movies have been speculated but are likely confirmed. A trusted source says that, “Infinity Castle part 2 will be out in 2027.”
The manga is long but it’s super worth it and definitely something you can read within the next two years. The movie is super tragic and yet it really makes you empathize with the characters.
There were so many deaths that hurt and honestly, Shinobu’s hurt the worst. Sorry if she’s your favorite character, but her death is messed up. By the end of the first movie, the only upper ranks left are Kokushibo and Douma, the others are definitely dead.
Kaigaku is killed by Zenitsu by himself, somehow. It was definitely a shock seeing just how powerful Zenitsu is compared to his first appearance.
Akaza’s backstory is tragic and deserves it’s own section, so that’s what it gets, because it almost had me ugly sobbing in the theater.
So, it starts off that his father is very sick, so Akaza steals in order to survive and is beaten and has bands tattooed around his arms so people know he’s a thief. Once he gets caught the time that we see, his father hangs himself out of shame. Tragic, absolutely, then Akaza is basically adopted by the owner of a dojo who has a sick daughter named Koyuki. Akaza takes care of the daughter until she gets better then she proposes to him at a firework show. Adorable, right?
Well, when Akaza goes to visit his fathers grave, someone poisons the well at the dojo, killing the owner and Koyuki. Akaza goes into a rage, kills around 67 people and is found by Muzan, and that’s when he’s transformed into a demon and becomes Upper Moon 3.
So, you can see that once Akaza got everything he wanted, it was taken from him, and he became a demon, it’s really sad. He and Koyuki deserved to be able to grow old together.
That’s the main backstory we get for the first part of the Infinity Castle arc. We also get a little bit of Kaigaku and Douma, but who cares about those selfish pricks? Overall, this movie will absolutely make you cry in the theater, the animation is super well-done, the plot is so good and it’s worth watching, even if you don’t like anime. The next movies are going to be even better and even more heartbreaking, genuinely. Mitsuri and Obanai’s deaths are going to break me like a twig. Seriously, You don’t have to like anime to enjoy this movie. Now, have a good day, go watch the movie and make sure you start the manga if you don’t wanna wait for the entire story. I know for a fact I will!
