'Young Sherlock' trailer gives us classic Guy Ritchie action
Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Dónal Finn on the Victorian England set of Young Sherlock. Prime Video

Director Guy Ritchie reinvigorated the world of Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. almost two decades ago. Now, he’s doing it again. Only this time, tackling the adventures of Holmes in his early years, in the Prime Video series Young Sherlock.  The series stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the titular role, and shows how he became England’s most celebrated detective. And apparently, also how to throw a mean right hook. Because this is a Guy Ritchie version of Sherlock, there are lots of fistfights. You can check out the intriguing first full trailer for Young Sherlock, which debuts all eight episodes on March 4, down below:

And here’s the official description for Young Sherlock from Prime Video:

When a charismatic, youthfully defiant Sherlock Holmes meets none other than James Moriarty he finds himself dragged into a murder investigation that threatens his liberty. Sherlock’s first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy, leading to an explosive showdown that alters the course of his life forever. Unfolding in a vibrant Victorian England and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street’s most renowned resident.

Key art for Prime Video's new Young Sherlock series. Prime Video

Guy Ritchie directs the first two episodes of Young Sherlock, and also serves as its executive producer. The series is created for television and executive-produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill. Joining Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the principal cast are Dónal Finn (The Wheel of Time), Zine Tseng (3-Body Problem), Natascha McElhone (Halo), and Max Irons (Condor). Oh, and a pair of iconic thespians you may be familiar with by the names of Joseph Fiennes and Colin Firth. No one does 19th-century period costume drama quite like these two. This one just happens to have a few more explosions than usual, that’s all. We can get on board with that.

Young Sherlock debuts on Prime Video on March 4.
