Zack Snyder shares first 'Army of the Dead' trailer

February has been good to Zack Snyder.

The award-winning director first shared a first-look trailer for his long-awaited Zack Snyder's Justice League on Valentine's Day, and he followed that up by teasing Army of the Dead on Thursday morning:

"Survivors take all" pops up on the screen throughout the trailer as an apocalyptic Las Vegas slowly takes shape. Snyder has a taste for the fantastical, as Army of the Dead will be his first non-DC Extended Universe project since 2011's Sucker Punch. The film, releasing to Netflix on May 21, follows a group of risk-takers daring to break quarantine after a zombie outbreak in order to execute the greatest heist in history.

Army of the Dead was directed and written by Snyder, though the screenplay was aided by Shay Hatten (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum). Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Hiroyuki Sanada, Omari Hardwick and Tig Notaro are among the cast.

Synder deserves a run of good fortune. While the 54-year-old is listed as the director of Justice League, he had departed the project six months prior to its November 2017 release primarily due to the death of his daughter. There was also an ongoing creative dispute with Warner Bros., which resulted in director Joss Whedon coming in and more or less undoing everything Snyder had done to the movie. Whedon's actions prompted a clamoring from actors and fans alike to "Release the Snyder Cut." And so, Zack Snyder's Justice League will finally stream at HBO Max on March 18.

The four-hour event will raise money for suicide prevention, according to Vanity Fair's Anthony Breznican. "At the end of the movie, it says ‘For Autumn,’” Snyder told Breznican in the sprawling profile, published earlier this week. “Without her, this absolutely would not have happened."
