Philo’s extensive entertainment library includes channels that appeal to all preferences, including BBC News, Nick Jr., A&E, BET, ID, STARZ and more — however, Philo does lack sports channels and major broadcast networks. This means that you won’t find ABCNBCCBS or ESPN

While this arrangement works for some (and you do get a lot of channels at a convenient price for most), our experts note that Philo’s selection limitations may mean that you won’t get many of the main channels you’re probably used to.

Thankfully, you get access to the full library of channels during the trial period, so you can see if it’s worth it.

How to sign up for Philo’s free trial

When you go to Philo’s homepage, you’ll see green buttons that say Start Your 7-Day Free Trial. Click any of these to begin the process of creating an account.

After you click, you’ll be prompted to enter your email address and click Continue. Philo will then send you an address verification message to the provided email.

From there, simply click on the link in the verification email and follow the prompts to create your account. As you create the account, you’ll be asked to enter payment details, which the service will reference to charge your account once the free trial ends.

How does Philo’s free trial compare to others?

Philo’s seven-day free trial is one of the most comprehensive available, as DIRECTV STREAM only offers five days, and Hulu + Live TV offers three days.

Where Philo shines, though, is their accessible pricing. While the channel selection (though significant) isn’t quite what some other streamers offer, the lower-than-average price point alone can be an excellent option for many households.

How to subscribe to Philo once my free trial expires

At the end of your free trial, you’ll automatically be switched over to a monthly subscription if you haven’t canceled. You’ll be charged $28 per month, and you’ll have access to the same channels you were watching during the free trial. These channels include AMC, Lifetime, BBC News, USA Today and more.

Philo only has one membership plan, so it’s simple to manage your account as you watch. There’s also no contract requirement when you sign up, which means you can cancel whenever you want with no penalty. Cancel before the free trial period is over to avoid being charged if you don’t want to continue your subscription.

How to cancel Philo

Canceling your Philo account is easy. You can do it through any of the apps you’re accessing Philo through, and you can also cancel through Philo’s website directly.

Start by logging into your account and navigating to your Account page. From there, click “Cancel My Subscription” at the bottom of the page. You’ll then be prompted to click “Complete Cancellation” to finish the process.

Cancellation happens immediately. However, you’ll still have access to Philo’s content until the end of the billing cycle you’ve paid for (or until the free trial ends).
