Vidgo review 2024: Everything to know before subscribing
Vidgo is one of the newest streaming services on the market. Launched in early 2020, this sports-focused streamer offers four different plans featuring an extensive lineup of sports and entertainment programming.
In some areas, it’s clear that Vidgo is still evolving to compete with some of the more established platforms. Some channels and features are noticeably absent, but Vidgo will still appeal to many cord-cutters — especially for its live sports and on-demand library. Vidgo content
Vidgo stands out as one of the better sports-focused streaming services available. Even in the basic Plus plan, you’ll get more than 20 sports channels, including most of the ESPN channels, FS1, MLB Network, NFL Network, and college-focused networks like ACCN, Big 10 Network, SEC Network, and the Pac-12 family of stations. That’s a lot of sports for $70 per month, and only Fubo can compete by offering a similar lineup that includes some key regional sports networks at this price point.
The Vidgo streaming service is more than a platform for live sports, though. The Plus plan includes more than 110 channels, including a variety of entertainment and family programming, plus a few news networks and many Spanish-language channels. You can expand that to over 150 channels on the Ultimate plan, and you’ll have everything from A&E and Disney Channel to Comedy Central and ABC News. Vidgo also offers an impressive lineup of on-demand content, with over 14,000 titles and 10,000 hours of shows and movies included in every plan.
For Spanish-speaking viewers, Vidgo offers an all-Spanish plan for $39.99 per month. With this subscription, you’ll get access to more than 45 Spanish-language channels, including some of the best Latino sports offerings.
In our Vidgo review, we did notice a few holes, starting with its lack of news channels. You can find ABC News Live, Cheddar News, Fox News, Newsmax and NewsNation here, but popular news stations such as BBC, CNN, CNBC and MSNBC are noticeably absent. Local channels are only partially covered, too. You can get your local ABC and Fox feeds, but there’s no CBS, NBC or PBS available. Vidgo also doesn’t offer any add-ons to expand your subscription with premium content.
Vidgo DVR
Vidgo’s DVR feature is newer to the platform, and it’s currently still in Beta. Each plan currently comes with 20 hours of DVR space. To record programs, find them in your channel guide or favorites list, select “Record (DVR)” and “Yes.” The program will appear in your DVR queue when it’s finished recording. Recordings stay in your queue as long as you stay within your 20-hour limit. According to a Vidgo service rep, the company plans to upgrade to 100 hours of DVR soon.
Vidgo viewing experience and video quality
Video quality on Vidgo defaults to 1080p HD, but this is based on your bandwidth and streaming device. If full HD isn’t supported, Vidgo will automatically downgrade your picture quality accordingly. This is similar to other streaming platforms, but Vidgo falls short of some competitors by not offering any content in 4K Ultra HD.
Vidgo user profiles
Vidgo’s user experience leaves a little to be desired when it comes to user profiles and customizations. The service doesn’t currently offer the option to set up different user profiles, and that means there’s no way to set parental controls for different users. With a subscription, any viewer has access to everything on the platform, and this may not appeal to some families. As a plus, you can stream on up to three devices at the same time.
Vidgo for sports fans
If sports are your top streaming priority, Vidgo should be in consideration with other top sports streaming platforms like Fubo and DIRECTV STREAM. As noted above, the basic plan offers more than 20 popular national sports channels, and you can add a few others in the higher-level plans. The basic plan truly offers one of the best values for sports streaming, though, so you may not need to upgrade. The biggest downside here is the notable absence of your local CBS and NBC affiliates and regional sports channels like Bally Sports, which leaves some significant gaps in your sports streaming options.
How does Vidgo compare?
As one of the newer streaming services, Vidgo is still playing catch-up to some of its competitors. However, it’s carved out a niche for itself by offering a lot of sports and entertainment programming at a slightly lower cost.

As many Vidgo reviews point out, the platform has a lot to offer and holds up well next to its competitors in several areas. For a slightly lower starting price, you’ll get quite a few channels, especially in the realm of sports and entertainment. The basic Plus plan offers the most value, and the upgrades aren’t particularly appealing. Dollar for dollar, you get a lot at the basic level compared to most competitors, especially when you factor in Vidgo’s extensive on-demand library.
However, the Vidgo streaming service does have some significant gaps compared to its closest competitors. The fact that it's missing a few local channels and regional sports networks puts it behind Fubo and DIRECTV STREAM, and its extremely limited DVR pales in comparison to most other streaming platforms. Its lack of user profiles and parental controls will disappoint many cord-cutters, too.
How to subscribe to Vidgo
The process of signing up for Vidgo is similar to other streaming services. You’ll need to visit its home page and take the following steps:
