Something big is coming to Midtown Manhattan in New York City this spring. A major announcement on Wednesday involving Olympic stars Alysa Liu and Amber Glenn has generated excitement among fans.

Liu and Glenn were part of the U.S. figure skating team at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. Both skaters helped Team USA win gold. Liu also won gold in the women’s singles competition.

Her victory earned the U.S. its first women’s singles Olympic title in figure skating in 24 years.

Liu and Glenn will headline the upcoming “Igniting the Dream” gala hosted by Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH). Fellow American Olympian Isabeau Levito is joining them at the event.

The trio, who are also known as the “Blade Angels,” represented the U.S. in women’s singles figure skating during the Milan Cortina Games. Liu won gold, while Glenn and Levito finished fifth and 12th, respectively.

FSH announced via Instagram on Wednesday that the gala is scheduled for May 18 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom.

“The Blade Angels are coming to Harlem. ⛸️✨,” the nonprofit organization said. “This year’s Igniting the Dream Gala features special appearances from Team USA’s Blade Angels: @alysaxliu, @amberglenniceskater, and @isabeau.levito!”

“From Harlem to the Olympics, our girls are in the room with women redefining the sport — now you can be too,” it added.

The gala honors Olympic figure skating judge Tina Lundgren and Tony Award-winning actress Anika Noni Rose. Lundgren has supported the organization for more than 15 years, helping girls succeed in athletics and education.

Rose, the voice of Disney’s first Black princess, Tiana, has made significant contributions to arts education, philanthropy, and health initiatives.

The evening will also celebrate Team USA, highlighted by the appearances of the “Blade Angels,” who redefine the culture of women's figure skating. This is because Liu, Glenn, and Levito showcase genuine friendship, mental health advocacy and individual joy over intense rivalry.

Tickets for the event start at $1,500, with tables beginning at $15,000. Proceeds will support FSH’s programs and mission to empower under-resourced girls in the NYC community. The organization uses skating and academics to help them build confidence and essential life skills.
