U.S. Figure Skater Amber Glenn Makes Personal Admission About Winter Olympics

For Amber Glenn, simply being at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics was far beyond what she once dared to dream. The 26-year-old American figure skater had a standout Olympic debut, winning team gold and finishing fifth in singles.

Beyond her podium success, Glenn became the oldest American woman in 98 years to enter the Olympic singles event. Most female singles skaters retire by their early 20s, yet the veteran skater reached her professional peak at age 26.

While 42-year-old Deanna Stellato‑Dudek made history as the oldest female figure skater in Milan, she competed in the pairs event and represented Canada.

In a recent interview, Glenn admitted that competing in the Winter Games was a reality that once felt far beyond her wildest dreams. The figure skating star said that as a child, she never imagined herself skating on the Olympic stage.

“Even as a kid, I never really envisioned it at the Olympics, because I was a six-year-old pessimist being like, ‘I’ll never make it there’,” she said.

According to Glenn, her dream at the time was simpler — perhaps catching a glimpse of herself on television. She thought that if she could see herself on screen, that alone would mean she had succeeded.

“I never thought I'd make it," the Olympian said. "My goal was to make it onto the television to skate.”

Glenn also revealed that after the Olympics, she aims to move on to a new stage on "Dancing With the Stars."

“’Dancing With the Stars,’ for sure," she said when asked about her post-Olympics bucket list. "… I just love everything about it — the costuming, the set design. I can’t wait to see and inquire about that.”

“Dancing With the Stars” is a popular American reality show where celebrities partner with professional ballroom dancers to compete for a trophy.

However, Glenn’s ballroom debut will likely remain on hold as she plans to stay involved in competitive skating. While 2026 could be her only Olympic appearance, she’s not planning to retire from the sport anytime soon.

The Texas native is still set to compete in the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships in Prague in March. The O2 Arena will host the global event, where Glenn hopes to conclude her historic season with another podium finish.
