In reaction to his former RB team-mate Yuki Tsunoda’s promising Formula 1 future, Daniel Ricciardo posited that the Japanese only just need to grab the chances that will be accorded to him. Undoubtedly, 2023 was challenging in terms of the machinery, it is considered Tsunoda quite promising, much different from the beginning of the year, and he has become the de facto leader of RB this year, which is his fourth year in F1.

Ricciardo who drives for the same team as he, says that now physical strength and, finally, the guy’s mental maturity and consistency are rewarding him. Speaking to Motorsport in an exclusive interview. on prospect com, Ricciardo pointed the record to his poor form but has also commended his performances in the past and growth.

Yuki Tsunoda’s progression over the seasons

The first years of Yuki Tsunoda’s presence in F1 could be described as somewhat erratic with many errors and difficulties adapting to new conditions. Ricciardo pointed out that in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, he had a stiff rivalry from then his teammate Pierre Gasly. But, according to Ricciardo, Yuki started to gain the upper hand over the latter part of 2022 and even out-perform Gasly in some ways.

Ricciardo spoke about the difficult task he has to prove himself capable with a top-level car. He did this to give context to his struggles with the help of Lando Norris’s performance in 2021 to show that even the best drivers take their time when they’re asked to be more than merely fast. Ricciardo credited Norris’s performances at Monza by pointing out that while the young driver was fast, he was overawed through being outclassed by Lewis Hamilton.

Pierre Gasly’s Perspective on Tsunoda’s Situation

In the active Formula 1 season 2021-2022, Pierre Gasly, his teammate at AlphaTauri, had an implicit knowledge of Yuki Tsunoda’s anger over his tenure with Red Bull Racing. For Gasly, who has had opportunities on the Red Bull set up and has had and faced highs and lows with the team, Tsunoda’s struggles seemed real and perhaps he advised the heart.

He also minced no words about his opinion to Red Bull officials that Yuki should have his shot with the senior Red Bull squad but admitted that he could not make such calls. He noted that Yuki is a special talent that can make a lot of difference if promoted to the team. Gasly’s words indicated not only his belief in his skills as a driver but also his understanding of the Formula 1 competitors, and the kind of mutual support and patronage that exist among the drivers of the same team.

Conclusion

The observations of Daniel Ricciardo and the positive words by Pierre Gasly also show an increasing opinion that Yuki Tsunoda has all the qualities a Formula 1 driver has to have. Nonetheless, it’s clear that Verstappen remains on the right path in his career and his recent performances are living up to expectations as well as recent improvements of Yuki Tsunoda confirm this idea. As he rises in age and takes more chances, Formula 1 awaits with bated breath to see if the potential that both, Ricciardo and Gasly, see in him would be met.
