Ex-F1 champion Jenson Button brands Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari transfer as a ‘brave move’

Lewis Hamilton , the former seven-time F1 world champion, has changed the whole landscape of the sport with his shock move to the Ferrari team from 2025 onwards. The whole world has been talking about this and amidst the hype, the 2009 F1 world champion, Jenson Button , has admitted that Hamilton’s decision to move to Ferrari is extremely brave.

Lewis Hamilton has been with Mercedes since 2013 and yesterday, totally out of the blue, it came to light that he will join Ferrari in 2025. This forced several fans to rub their eyes twice as the unprecedented news was just not fathomable to them, especially the Mercedes faithful.

While a lot has already been said about the shock news, Jenson Button while talking about it on SkyF1’s special show said,

This definitely makes it an interesting year for us looking forward to 2025, we still have another year of F1 to look forward to. But 2025, yeah, this is proper exciting, but for Lewis, this is a brave move, and a lot of respect to him. Because, he is not just going to another team, he is going to Ferrari!!

Button, with his reaction, has made it quite clear that 2025 will be an extremely fascinating year for the fans. Seeing Hamilton dawning the infamous red gear will be a sight to behold and not to forget, that he will partner up with Ferrari’s star driver, Charles Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes will have an awkward reunion on 14th February

While several people including Jenson Button have indicated that Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari is huge, the latter is set to attend the Brackley-based Mercedes F1 team’s 2024 car launch on the upcoming 14th of February.

The W15 will be launched on the 14th and it would be fascinating to see how Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton will act around each other. Especially considering, the latter signed a contract extension with the team last year until the end of 2025. Moreover, oozed immense optimism around the deal during that moment.

Lewis Hamilton with his shocking move, has surprised the fans of the sport all over the world, but from Mercedes’s point of view, they are going to feel a bit betrayed. The German team’s boss, Toto Wolff, is yet to comment on the whole fiasco.
