The driver’s title battle has been continuing to heat up ever since the grid returned to racing after the summer break. Max Verstappen has kept up with his positive form and is chipping away ever so slightly at the point deficit ahead of him.

Meanwhile, Lando Norris has snatched the lead from Oscar Piastri by just one point following his stellar performance in Mexico. Now, ex-F1 driver Martin Brundle shares his pick for the favorite to win the title in the 2025 season.

Lando Norris started the season off in great form and led the title momentarily. However, Oscar Piastri‘s superior performances, coupled with a streak of woeful races from Norris, caused him to dwindle dramatically in the standings. However, the Briton has now regained his form and seems to be on the path to achieving a great championship win this year.

Although Max Verstappen is closing down on the once massive gap in driver standings, McLaren’s superior pace will help Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri defend their title leads. Martin Brundle insisted that, according to him, the title battle will be between the two McLarens. Until and unless the Woking-based constructor does not sabotage their own races with the team orders and hand the title to Max Verstappen, they would be able to win the title.

Martin Brundle predicted that out of the four remaining races, McLaren would likely remain a dominating factor in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Brundle declared that Lando Norris would bring home the title win. However, as long as Piastri does not return to his previous race-winning form and Woking doesn’t sabotage their own driver’s races, Norris would remain the favorite to win the title.

I believe it’s between the two McLaren drivers, unless they step on their own tails and hand it to Max, because Max really effectively needs 12 or 15 points a weekend to compensate… I believe in Qatar, the McLaren will be stronger, Abu Dhabi as well. I think Lando can take it unless Oscar can return to the form that he had earlier in the season and providing they don’t step on their own tails at McLaren.

Martin Brundle said on Sky Sports’ F1 show.

Max Verstappen reveals his game plan to win the title over Lando Norris

After a mediocre outing in Mexico, Max Verstappen is currently adrift of the championship lead to Lando Norris by 36 points. With just four races, this gap is certainly big, but not impossible to cover, especially by Verstappen. As such, following the woes of Mexico, the Dutchman pondered over his game plan that he would stick to for the remainder of the season.

Max Verstappen shed light on the fact that he lost ten points to Lando Norris in Mexico after the latter achieved a race win. The Dutchman insisted that everything needed to go perfectly if he wanted a realistic shot at the title. Verstappen noted that the Mexico GP outing wasn’t perfect either, but the upcoming races should be better than this one as he looked up to the impending challenge.

I lost 10 points to Lando, so as I said before the weekend, everything needs to go perfect to win, And this weekend didn’t go perfect. So that’s your answer. I think it’s going to be tough, but let’s see what we can do in other tracks. I hope, of course, we won’t experience a weekend like this again, but it still shows that we’re not quick in every scenario. And that’s what we need to understand, I think, a bit better.

Max Verstappen said via Sky Sports.

The 2025 season has been extremely exciting up until this point. Now, with the driver’s title battle closing in on the top drivers, it will be all the more interesting. Hence, the final four races are looking promising of an intense battle between the top three drivers. Lando Norris is currently leading and just has to one-up Oscar Piastri in all the races to maintain his lead in the standings.
