Ferrari engineer claims Fred Vasseur’s leadership gives confidence to take ‘more risks’
Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

Fred Vasseur joined Ferrari as the team principal during the beginning of the 2023 season. Vasseur joined Maranello when the team was under intense backlash after underperforming under Mattia Binotto. So, the Frenchman was expected to deliver much better results for the Italian-based constructor. The 55-year-old has been successful in achieving great results for the team since then. As a result, Ferrari’s engineer was full of praise for the team principal.

Fred Vasseur has been leading Ferrari to score great results ever since he joined in 2023. Under Vasseur, Ferrari became the only non-Red Bull team to win a race during Red Bull’s extremely dominant campaign. Subsequently, the team principal received praise and applause from everyone on the grid. Jock Clear, who recently took the role of Ferrari Academy’s director was full of praises for the Frenchman.

According to Jock Clear, Vasseur’s leadership enabled people within the team to take higher risks. This was the team principal’s strength as it allowed the team to achieve far bigger dreams. Additionally, the 55-year-old encouraged everyone on the team to try and learn something new. The Frenchman didn’t get angry when the team failed, rather he applauded them for having learned something from the mistake.

His leadership gives people the confidence to risk more. This is its strength. Encourage to try something different and if things go wrong he is ready to say 'we still learned something'. Jock Clear said, as reported by Formulapassion.it.

Jock Clear claimed that Employees became ‘more enthusiastic’ under Fred Vasseur

Fred Vasseur’s leadership not only brought good results to the team but also alleviated the crew’s mood. The Ferrari crew became more and more hopeful of better results which imminently improved performance. Hence, Clear further highlighted that employees were more enthusiastic under the new team leader. Additionally, they weren’t afraid of trying new things and being blamed for their failure.

Employees are enthusiastic, not afraid to try new things and get blamed.  Jock Clear added.

Vasseur’s highly positive lookout helped enable the team members to have a different look at things. The team kept on bringing in new and unique upgrades and further boosted their performance. Hence, the crew realized that they could learn much faster after risking more and more within the team. As a result, the Italian constructor could challenge the dominant Red Bull by the end of the season.

Now they have a different look at things: they know we can learn much faster if we take risks. Jock Clear noted.

Ferrari is currently following Red Bull’s performance in second. Maranello could potentially challenge the Austrian constructor for the championship down the season if they keep up with the in-season upgrades. Despite Milton Keynes being at the pinnacle of their performance, they have lost out on two races in the season, one by Ferrari as well.
