Former England captain Michael Vaughan and Hawk-Eye creator Paul Hawkins engaged in a heated debate regarding the use of the Decision Review System (DRS) decision after the technology’s use during the ongoing Test series between India and England. The controversy started after Joe Root‘s LBW dismissal after India took a DRS in the fourth Test.
Vaughan wants the use of microphones and cameras inside the room where the umpires make the decisions. He thinks a bit more transparency will put the “noise to bed.” Vaughan also wants the International Cricket Council to get rid of the controversial Umpire’s Call.
But Hawk-Eye creator Hawkins dismissed Vaughan’s remarks, calling his commentary “uneducated“. He wants the ex-English skipper to prepare more for his role as a journalist so that he can produce factually correct reports.

Michael Vaughan replies to Paul Hawkins’ “uneducated” dig by reiterating his call for DRS transparency
Michael Vaughan is very active on X (formerly Twitter). In spite of the remark from Paul Hawkins, Vaughan simply reiterated his call for DRS transparency. He wrote the fans should see everything that’s happening inside the DRS room.
Here’s his post:
It’s very simple .. Show all decisions being made from the trucks then please for full transparency .. show the fans at home exactly how your operation works .. that’s all I have asked for .. look forward to seeing it in full flow for the next Test in India https://t.co/gpFA515p2A

Hawkins developed the Hawk-Eye system in the United Kingdom and the technology was first used in 2000 in cricket matches.
Meanwhile, India won the Test series 3-1 after their fourth Test victory. The last Test will be played from March 7.
