Red Bull Technical Advisor, Helmut Marko has given his thoughts on the damages caused by Sergio Perez during his crash at the Monaco GP. The latter had a huge shunt on lap 1 after Haas F1 driver, Kevin Magnussen crashed into him.
Red Bull has estimated damages worth $3 million in the repair of the Mexican driver’s RB20. This comes as a major hit to the expenses of Red Bull after a $135 million budget cap was issued for the 2024 season.
Helmut Marko spoke in dismay, saying that such an expense would heavily affect Red Bull’s planning and long-term production of parts. The Milton-Keynes-based team currently leads the drivers and constructors championship over Ferrari, who are placed second.
That clearly affects us, because there are considerations about what to do with the car. Three million is then missing for our considerations. In the worst case, this means that we can do less development. If we have to do something extra due to the greater competitiveness of Ferrari and McLaren, we are obviously handicapped. Helmut Marko spoke to Planet F1.
Red Bull was miles apart in comparison to Ferrari at the Monaco GP. The team would thus look to bounce back from this deficit in time for the upcoming Canadian event. However, Marko claimed that due to the incurrence of further costs, the Austrian outfit faces a situation of helplessness in the sphere of extra development to compete with the ever-improving McLaren and Ferrari.
Max Verstappen has opened up about the struggles of the RB20 around bumpy circuits where it has been notably unstable and off the pace. Red Bull has struggled with bumps in the past two seasons.
We need to understand what it is, because we clearly don't understand it. But we will work hard to find the problem and then try to get rid of it. I don't know if we can do it this year but hopefully for next year. Max Verstappen spoke to Motorsport.com.
Red Bull is seemingly not focused on the issue of its car facing problems with bumps as Max Verstappen elaborated. The Dutchman also said that circuits with high-speed kerb riding corners have been the bane of his team for the better part of two years.
The Christian Horner-led outfit will now try to focus on fixing RB20s downforce issues around corners. Moreover, this is not a problem to be fixed within weeks as indicated by Verstappen. Up next is the Canadian GP, where Red Bull will try to bounce back from their poor performance in Monaco.

Mason West is a talented prospect of the future for the Chicago Blackhawks, but it appears he may look to leave hockey for big opportunities in football. The Chicago Blackhawks landed Anton Frondell with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, but it was perhaps their second first-round pick that drew the most intrigue, as they drafted centre Mason West out of the USHL. That pick was intriguing for many reasons, with the 6-foot-6 centre having potential with his talent and his physicality, but now, the team may be in danger of losing the talented 17-year old. According to a report from The Athletic, the No. 29 overall pick has been drawing interest from several NCAA programs to join their team as a football player. Standing at 6-foot-6, the Minnesota native is a star in both hockey and football, tallying 49 points in 31 games at the high school level while also being a star Quarterback, and after putting up 9 points in 10 USHL games with the Fargo Force, the future is bright for him in both sports. Ultimately, at 17-years of age, the future is very bright whichever way West ends up going, but given that the Blackhawks used a first-round pick on him in this past seasons draft, they're clearly confident that they can not only keep him in hockey, but make a good NHLer out of him moving forward.
Love her, or hate her, Angel Reese is a WNBA superstar. She continues to fill stat-sheets while simultaneously landing in headlines seemingly on a daily basis. Reese's sophomore WNBA season started as a "rivalry" with Indiana Fever superstar, Caitlin Clark. The narrative surrounding Reese, however, has slowly taken a turn, with many seemingly taking shots at Reese. First, it was famed rapper, Ice Cube, founder of BIG3, who offered an unprompted quote about not having as much money for Reese to play for his league as they had for Clark last year ($5 million). And now, on Tuesday, WNBA legend, television personality, and soon to be podcast host, Candace Parker, filled her mouth with Reese's name. “Speaking about Angel (Reese) must be the only way to be heard on a Podcast or to stay relevant?” Parker said. Reese, who's fresh off extending her double-double streak to 11 games, appeared to fire back at Parker, putting out a mysterious tweet on Tuesday night. "clout is one helluva DRUG. like it really gets to a point." Reese posted on her official X account. Reese appears to be responding, in her own unique way, to Parker's comments. Parker's comments were pulled from her new podcast, "Post Moves". The new podcast is set to debut on Wednesday. It's a new podcast Parker is set to co-host with Fever All-Star center, Aliyah Boston. Less than hour after posting her tweet on X, Reese's message had over 500 comments. "Y’all need to put some respect on Candace Parker’s name. She just tells it like it is." one user posted. "Yeah Candace is getting weird. Stop showing her love it’s not reciprocated." another user posted. "Anything for views and likes," another user said. "If there was a get your money up without mentioning Angel Reese challenge, they’d lose," another fan posted. With Parker and Boston's first episode of "Post Moves" set to officially launch on Wednesday, time will tell how it is received given this ongoing back-and-forth between Reese and Parker. Reese, as usual, appears ready to defend herself on and off the court.
The World Junior Summer Showcase is in full swing, and Maple Leafs top prospect Ben Danford is shattering expectations, truly proving how good of a player he can be. The Toronto Maple Leafs' defensive prospect, Ben Danford, is among the 44 players who were invited to Hockey Canada's World Juniors Summer Showcase. Hockey Canada finally unveiled the 44 prospects who will head to Minnesota for the showcase, after they held the roster release back while the organization dealt with several injuries, which begins Sunday and runs through August 2 in Minneapolis. Defensive prospect Ben Danford is the only Maple Leafs player invited to the annual showcase, where Canada's World Junior staff will get their first look at what their team might look like for the 2026 World Juniors, which will also take place in Minnesota in December. Danford is being called the best player at the World Juniors Summer Showcase Danford has been exceeding expectations, and one source revealed that he has been the best player at the World Junior Showcase so far. The source said Danford is steady, smart, and hard to ignore on the ice. 'Ben Danford has been the best player at the World Junior Showcase he's steady, smart, and impossible to ignore. Makes every shift count, whether he's breaking up plays or starting the rush. Canada's blue line is in good hands.' - An unnamed source The Maple Leafs selected Danford with their first pick (31st overall) at the 2024 NHL Draft. During his visit to Toronto's development camp earlier this month, the defender revealed that he's receiving mentorship from current Leafs defensemen as well as some alumni like Mark Giordano. The 6-foot-2 Danford could make for an excellent fit for Canada should he make the team. He is responsible in his own end, and he demonstrated leadership capabilities when he was named captain of the Oshawa Generals ahead of the 2024-25 OHL season.
LeBron James and Luka Doncic have had very different offseasons ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season. On one hand, Luka Doncic has gone through an insane transformation that has Los Angeles Lakers fans over the moon as the 26-year-old is expected to sign a long-term extension soon. While Doncic continues to win the hearts of the Laker Nation, trade rumors have continuously surrounded LeBron James since opting into his $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 NBA season. Although there’s no clarity over James’ future in LA beyond the upcoming season, NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins became the bearer of good news about the King, in at least one department. Kendrick Perkins says Luka Doncic motivated LeBron James James will soon enter the 23rd season of his NBA career. That’s a tough enough feat in itself, so seeing his name brought up in trade rumors day in and day out must have had some negative impact on LBJ. However, Perkins thinks that Doncic’s recent lean pictures have motivated the 4x NBA champion. Perkins referenced LeBron’s recent late-night workout pictures on social media to bolster his point. “Luka Doncic just motivated LeBron James, I saw, as soon as the pictures, videos went viral and s___ on the internet, all of a sudden, LeBron back in the lab, the old man back in the lab,” Perkins said on the Road Trippin’ podcast. Perkins added: “He’s always in the lab, but he had to post and let y’all know that. Let the world know that he was in the lab.” Despite rumors of the Lakers potentially moving on from James due to Doncic’s arrival, Perkins believes the 40-year-old is motivated by that. Kendrick Perkins declares the Los Angeles Lakers as ‘legit title contenders’ The Lakers have made multiple moves this offseason to bolster their roster ahead of the upcoming season. Perkins believes the signings of Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart, in particular, have elevated the Purple and Gold to ‘legit title contender’ status for next season. “And the Lakers are legit title contenders. I love the moves that they made, going and getting Deandre Ayton and going and getting Marcus Smart,” the ESPN analyst concluded. While every player will need to bring their A-game to the table to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy, Ayton arguably has the most to prove. After all, the former No. 1 overall pick has developed a lackluster reputation in recent years.
