Lando Norris Asserts No Race to Be ‘Easy’ for McLaren

McLaren has emerged as the most dominant team on the F1 grid in the 2025 season as they run off in the distances in both championship standings. Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are maximizing points for the team over the race weekends. Despite Woking’s clearly superior pace, Norris anticipates a difficult latter half of the 2025 season as the rivals have started to get a grip on their struggles.

Lando Norris is currently trailing the driver’s title to his teammate Oscar Piastri by just nine points. Meanwhile, McLaren has established an astounding 299-point lead over the trailing constructor in Ferrari. Even though Woking is enjoying utter dominance on track, Norris has committed some major errors that have cost him a lot of running in the standings. Even Piastri isn’t completely sublime, as he has made mistakes over the season as well.

Regardless, both drivers are towering over the rest of the pack in the standings and are enjoying their lead. Despite the well-established lead, Lando Norris asserted that the final ten races of the 2025 season wouldn’t be a walk in the park for McLaren.

The Briton insisted that McLaren had been stronger than the rest of the grid this year. However, the rivals reduced the deficit to Woking in the recent races. Norris added that whatever strengths Woking had were also being exploited by the rivals on the grid. Regardless, he accepted that the outfit had become stronger in many other aspects.

We as a team have been stronger this year, but I think the others have reduced the gap in recent races. What has made us strong is a trait in which others have become closer, but we have become stronger in other aspects.

Lando Norris said, as reported by formulapassion.it

Lando Norris accepted that he wasn’t expecting a massive 20-second lead against the rivals and was realistic in his approach. Although Norris acknowledged that it would be great to keep winning races in this manner, he emphasized that he did not expect the remaining ten races to be easy for McLaren. The Briton noted that the team would show up to every race weekend and score the best results possible.

I’m not expecting a 20-second win or anything like that. I would be happy if it were to happen and I will try to repeat a similar result, but I don’t expect any race to be easy from now on. We will arrive at every race trying to win, expecting a team double, and that will be our mission, but I don’t think we can rest on our laurels and think that it will be a simple race. We always have to expect a tough challenge.

Lando Norris admits he still has ‘things to improve’

Lando Norris’ crucial mistake has cost him the championship lead as he is unable to trump his Aussie counterpart, Oscar Piastri, in the pecking order yet. The Briton must ensure that he does not commit any major mistakes in the latter half of the year, in order to remain within touching distance of the championship lead.

Lando Norris insisted that he worked hard with the team and scored great results over the race weekend, as he hopes to continue his winning streak. However, he accepted that there will always be things to improve upon and become stronger than before. Regardless, after recharging over the summer break, the 25-year-old feels ready to take on the challenge of the latter half of the 2025 season and continue the hunt for his maiden drivers’ title.

We did it and it was nice to find some good results, but there have been, are and will always be some things to improve, trying to become stronger. In the end, this is F1; I feel good and ready to start again for a second part of the season that will probably be long, complicated and demanding, but also for positive reasons.

Lando Norris noted

McLaren has more or less secured the constructors’ championship in their bags, as the rivals are unlikely to oust them from the top spot now. Even the two Woking drivers in Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, are occupying the top two spots in the pecking order. Hence, the end-of-the-season battle will be between the two Papaya drivers, as both of them will give it their all in the final sprint of races.
