Las Vegas GP: Start Time, Schedule, Weather, Predictions For F1 Race

With only three races left in the 2025 F1 season, the Las Vegas GP arrives at a moment when every point counts. McLaren leads the constructors’ title comfortably, but the drivers’ championship remains wide open.

Lando Norris holds the advantage, Oscar Piastri sits close behind, and Max Verstappen, third in the standings, lurks within striking distance if the papaya cars stumble.

Vegas is one of the few modern street circuits where overtaking is not just possible but expected. The Strip’s mile-long blast and punishing braking zones mean the race is rarely processional. And with the season in its closing stretch, even a single off-beat result could transform the final run to Abu Dhabi.

A Track That Rewards Courage, And Punishes Hesitation

The Vegas layout spans 3.8 miles and 17 corners and two DRS zones feeding a straight where cars exceed 210 mph. Unlike several newer street races, this circuit rewards drivers who brake late and commit early. The heavy stops at the end of the Strip, in particular, create overtaking chances but also open the door to lockups and lost tire performance.

The real complication, however, is temperature. Vegas looks warm under the neon glow, but desert nights often slide below 50 degrees. Tyres take longer to reach their operating window, and early-stint graining can unravel a race before strategy has a chance to stabilize.

Teams are preparing for:

  • Slower warm-up cycles
  • Greater risk of snap oversteer
  • Safety cars disrupting planned pit windows
  • High sensitivity to out-lap execution

The winning car won’t necessarily be the fastest, just the one that adapts quickest to cold.

Where the Title Fight Can Swing

Lando Norris

He enters Vegas with the points lead and the comfort of a dominant season overall. But he’s vulnerable on cold surfaces and hasn’t delivered a clean Vegas weekend yet. Managing risk is his priority.

Oscar Piastri

Quiet, precise, and increasingly aggressive in wheel-to-wheel battles. If he finishes ahead of Norris, the final two races tighten dramatically. If he wins, the internal dynamic at McLaren becomes the story of the season.

Max Verstappen

He has history on this circuit, and more importantly, the straight-line efficiency to attack into Turn 14. A win in Vegas is his best route to dragging McLaren into a three-way flight all the way to Abu Dhabi.

Predictions: Who handles the Heat, and the Cold?

  1. Max Verstappen

His pace in low-downforce conditions and mastery on cold compounds gives him a narrow edge.

  1. Lando Norris

If he survives the opening ten laps without tire issues, his long-run consistency keeps him in play.

  1. George Russell

Mercedes typically comes alive on faster circuits, and Vegas suits his calm driving style.

  1. Oscar Piastri

His qualifying pace is strong, but early-stint tire management may determine whether he fights for the win or slips into recovery mode.

Vegas has a way of reshaping championships. Saturday night could bring clarity, or chaos that echoes all the way to the finale.
